There are very few kids who have a pass to the NFL. Because of this he doesn't need to make the absolutely best football choice. Just a good one. He really should be focusing on the best academic and social experience, one that will create the best memories and prepare him the best for his after football future. I can't think of a better choice than Minnesota. That article is a great example of what he's giving up if he leaves. And for what? In his case very little.
