Brandon Taylor, a 6-foot-8, 240-pound rising senior power forward from Trenton Catholic, shined in July for the Team Philly AAU program. His strong play earned him looks from several top programs, including Minnesota. Gopher head coach Tubby Smith called Taylor Monday to let him know that he is high on their wish list. GopherHole.com caught up with Taylor at the Desert Duel in Phoenix to learn the latest on his recruitment.

Strengths:
The prototypical mismatch problem, Taylor has the size and strength to score on the perimeter and the skill set to stretch opposing defenses to the three-point line. He is built like a truck with a naturally strong frame and knows how to post big on the block where he can overpower smaller defenders. He shoots a consistent ball from the three-point line and can also make a shot off the dribble or attack with limited bounces. Defensively, he has the strength to bang in the post and pretty good mobility for a player his size.

I don't know if many high school recruits match up with the beast at this point....that being said, this kid apparently has some range/perimeter skills so I could see him being a nightmare defensive assignment
