Chris Monter Q&A: New Gopher Commit Julian Welch Converts Parents Into ''Cable Guys''

Julian Welch, a 6-foot-3, 205-pound sophomore guard from Yuba (Calif.) Community College who committed to Minnesota Saturday, might need to reimburse his parents for their increased cable bill next year. His parents have been regulars at his game at high school, college and junior college and now will have to rely on the Big Ten Network to watch their son in the 2011-12 season.

Welch visited Minnesota last weekend and Golden Gopher head coach Tubby Smith watched him have 30 points and ten assists in a recent game. GopherHole.com caught up with Welch to learn the latest on his decision.

When are Andre and Julian coming to Minnesota? Are they going to do some summer school and play summer ball here with some of the current Gophers? Is there a trip like last years to Canada planned for the 2011 2012 team?

Thanks

The NCAA only allows you to have one preseason trip every four years, so no, the Gophs won't be taking a trip to another country this summer.
