Mike Gesell, a 6-foot-2 junior guard from South Sioux City, is one of the top Midwest backcourt performers. He has helped lead the Cardinals to a 17-2 start as they are Nebraska's top-ranked Class B boys basketball team and are hoping to repeat as state champions. Gesell has already received seven scholarship offers and is drawing recruiting interest from several top programs, including Minnesota. It could be to late now. Other schools have been on him for almost 2 years now. He passes Kirk Hinrich last weekend putting him 6th all time in scoring with 1,274. By the time he's done he should very easily have the all time record.
