Brett Pierce, a 6-foot-5, 255-pound lineman from Academy of Holy Angels, is one of the state’s top frontline players. He helped lead the Stars to an 8-2 mark this season, losing to South St. Paul 50-20 in the section 3AAAA second round playoffs. GopherHole.com caught up with Pierce for an update on his recruitment.

Doesn't look like a very competitive kid, a lot of quitting in other sports.

Yeah, but he quit those sports to focus on football. Has anybody seen him play? Any opinions? Does he have higher upside than Harden?

I should have checked YouTube.

Big frame, looks like he has room to fill out some more too, seems to play with a bit of a mean streak, doesn't look real explosive though.

He might have a higher upside because he has an almost ideal frame for a DT. I've seen him play twice, and he actually didn't stand out much. I saw him play SSP, and they ran the ball right up the middle the entire game.

I don't think he is anywhere near the player Harden is today, but I suppose he might have a higher upside.

That's an unfair jump. A lot of HS players who are about to get a scholarship stop playing their other sports. Almost all of our players will stop playing other sports and focus on lifting for football. It's common.
