Jonathan Harden, a 6-foot, 300-pound junior defensive lineman from St Paul (MN) Cretin Derham Hall, is perhaps the most highly recruited player in the state in the Class of 2012. Harden was named All-State by the Associated Press and St. Paul Pioneer Press and All-Metro by Kare-11 and the Minneapolis Star Tribune. GopherHole.com caught up with Harden Saturday to learn the latest on his recruitment and expectations for his senior season.

I would hope that the Gophers are in this. I realize he went camping with the U last year but why weren't they mentioned here?

----

GH: Are you starting to hear from some colleges?

JH: I just got invited to the Iowa Hawkeyes Junior Day January 16th. I’ve talked to Nebraska, Miami and Pittsburgh. I should have a busy summer.

GH: Have you talked to many schools about going to Junior Days besides Iowa?

JH: Iowa’s Junior Day. Wisconsin’s and hopefully, I’ll get some more.

I too am confused. Are the gophers trying to land this guy? It's horrible that the number one player in minnesota is looking forward to iowa and wisconsins junior day, yet doesn't even bother to mention the gophers....?

The new staff has a lot to do in a short time. We are currently in a dead period for HS recruits until Jan 3. I'm sure they'll rectify the situation shortly after that. The only recruits they can talk too right now, are mid year transfers, so that's what they're doing.

I think a lot of the reason we are behind the 8ball a little bit with the top recruits in 2012 is because we haven't been recruiting since October and when it started up again (Kill was hired) we needed to focus on this class. We will get in the mix for Harden.

I thought I read this kid was more like 5'9"? I not saying don't recruit him, on the contrary, he seems like the type of guy Kill loves.

Hopefully his height scares away some big programs, but the kid is big time! Btw, sounds like Webb may be looking to get out of the North and head more South like Farrow. Sounds like he isn't a big fan of the cold. :( He would be a very good CB recruit for you guys.
