Myrick now has two touchdowns this season. He returned an interception for a score against Middle Tennessee State. But he learned a hard lesson the following week as Texas Christian targeted him repeatedly.

“That game for me was a reality check,” Myrick said. “You were coming off the pick-six and then you’re getting thrown at the whole game against TCU. That game was a reality check that you’ve got to stay focused. Just not get too big for yourself.”

He will become a marked man as a returner now. His speed might scare teams enough that they avoid kicking the ball to him.

Myrick all but dared them.

“If they come at me again,” he said, “I’m going to have to make them pay.”

Go Gophers!!

Any of our returners would have a had a big return with that lane that opened up in front of him. What was different for a Gopher team was having a guy with the speed to take it 100 yds instead of 50 yds. Antonio Johnson did a great job locking up the would-be tackler at mid field & Myrick gave him just enough of a move to blow right past him. That's where we haven't had this type of speed in the past. He was being able to shift into that extra gear & take it all the way home. Feels good.

Agreed. Myrick did a good job...but the blocking seems to be overlooked here. They opened up a huge lane. You could have driven semi-trucks through there.

Well, if ya can drive a semi truck through it, everyone would get out of the way, I think. :)
