per Chip:

Mitch Leidner will receive the brunt of the criticism after completing only five of 18 passes, but the blame should be shared. It’s never just one person’s fault. The conversation should be all-encompassing. That includes scheme, blocking, talent at receiver and Leidner’s inaccuracy. Everything.

An improved passing game belongs at the top of Jerry Kill’s list of needs moving forward. That’s a must, though Kill understandably wasn’t interested in a big-picture discussion so soon after the game.

“I have to go back and think and re-evaluate the season,” he said. “We need to continue to improve on a lot of things. That’s one of them. No question. And we will.”

Go Gophers!!

Not to be a jerk but didn't Kill also say that after last season? Time to actually do it.

Everyone should be required to read this before posting on GH.

The blame lies with Matt Limegrover.

Have you watched college football in recent years?

Any bush league program can now throw the ball. In fact, it's the one thing most of the crappiest schools can do. It's everything else that's the hard part.

Like to think what this team would of done with just an above average passing game.

Please see my post above.

Kill said it was a seven year rebuild. May be lip service, but because of Harbison and McDonald, we were set back. Kill was hellbent on red shirting the signees this year and did so. More bricks on offense will be in place next year.

Leinder was inaccurate, but also only had Maxx to really throw to. When Drew went down, teams focused on Williams and didn't leave very much talent at WR. We need some playmakers as well as a capable QB to throw to them.

They're coming. No excuses the next two years.

The depth this team flourished on down the stretch is lacking at QB, WR, TE and change of pace RB.
The loss of Anyanwu, Nelson, and wolitarsky hurt immediate depth this year. Shortell, Harbison, and McDonald didn't help either. They redshirted 5-6 players that probably will play next year in the passing game. Maxx should stay one more season, Mitch improves marginally and we are in a good place.

that missed pass to Maye in the flat in fourth quarter summed it up for me...that was brutal....that being said good defenses expose quarterbacks...

If we had so much talent that was red shirting that was better then on the field that is a coaching mistake. We had a chance to win the Big Ten THIS year but we are saving players for future unknown scenarios.

That's why we are armchair coaches. You have to balance classes and recruiting. You only get 25 a year. Weight room is huge for WR. Kill has said they are ahead of schedule and that is because of the kids buy in.

Kill said Gentry would have played if not injured.

We will be fine, maybe even better. The kids that needed to play, played. We will have Gibson, Holland, Gentry, the kid from Cincinnati next year, Leidner has another year, plus Perra will too.

I thought the hi-lite of the year was yesterday about 5:00 minutes left in the 4th Q. Down by 10. 1st & 10. Option keeper by Leidner off left tackle. Option keeper by Leidner off right tackle. Incomplete pass over the middle into double coverage. Punt on 4th & 3 with about 4 minutes left.

Nothing better encapsulates the futility of the Gopher's 2014 offense than that series.

So we do the hard things extremely well and the easiest thing the crappy schools can do we struggle with.

In the end we are a good team and the crappy teams are still crappy.

Players get hurt, therefore the decision was made for the coaches. Even so, I don't think too many people thought we'd be in that situation at the end of the year. The coaches would have been ripped to shreds on here if they pulled a redshirt with only a few games left.

I'd like to think this will not be the only time we will have a chance to win the Big Ten in the next few years. I'm guessing the coaches feel the same way.

If that is your "hi-lite of the year," then you missed an awful lot of good FB this season. The Gophers won the Pig, won the Jug, beat Nebraska for the 2nd year in a row - and that is what you choose to focus on?

If you choose to focus on the negative, that is your choice. I choose to take a more optimistic view of the world. To each his own.

I swear there are people on this board who claim to be "Gopher Fans," and yet they secretly hope the Gophers have a bad game - or players they don't like have a bad game - so they can come on here and be negative. I hope the Gophers have a good game, so I don't have to read posts like yours.

Talking about MCDonald and Harbison - no factor in yesterday's QB play. Harbison plays at Div 2 now at RB and McDonald could not cut it as UW River Falls and is out of football

Thank you. Only on GH do a couple of guys with a combined 5 career catches (if that) in maroon and gold become saviors.
