Chip: Kevin Warren, Big Ten bosses fumbled everything but the decision itself

It hasn't been handled well, that is for sure.

I guess my point is Warren seems to be getting much of the blame when it really wasn't his decision.
Hearing more and more that he was driving the discussion in that meeting/those meetings; he started things off immediately by driving things towards playing in the Spring, there was almost no discussion on actually playing this fall. 4-5 school reps really wanted to play this fall, 4-5 really wanted to not play, the others weren't really that engaged in the discussion and were dealing more with what was going on at their respective schools.

I also had never seen until just the last few hours that Mr. Warren has been essentially deeply engaged in being a SJW since being hired as the commissioner; actively pushing requiring all B1G athletes to be registered voters, assuring that every B1G athlete has the right to kneel, pushing curriculum on B1G universities that address hot button issues like voter suppression, etc. Not exactly sure what pushing for school curriculum on social issues has to do with being the conference commissioner but what the heck...

I also get the sense that the Presidents and Chancellors are perfectly willing to let Warren take all the heat while they refuse to say how they voted or whether there even was a vote. Nothing like getting thrown under the bus by your new bosses while they play the CYA card.

Has Gable made any kind of a statement on the record? If she has, I haven't seen it.

She made what was probably the most concise statement about it.

Long before the issue came up.

In all fairness, that's the job, SON. That's one of the reasons they hire and employ a commissioner. Not unlike the commissioner of the NFL or NBA or any other league who represent the owners; they represent the owners and are the mouthpiece of their respective leagues. If he doesn't want that responsibility, he shouldn't have taken the job

Lot of people crawling out of woodwork to lash out at him.

Just have to wonder if the color of his skin has something to do with that. Sad, if so.
It does make you wonder. Most of us forget how important the Presidents of the member institutions are. It appears that there was an attempt at a collaborative approach to this decision.
