per Chip:

Kirk Ciarrocca, architect of the Gophers offense, has moved on, but whomever P.J. Fleck picks as his next offensive coordinator will inherit a ready-to-roll outfit. Especially at quarterback. Yeah, the Gophers are good there.

What a welcomed change, eh? No more quarterback uncertainty. No more fall camp quarterback competition. The Gophers are wearing the other shoe now. They have their guy, and he should rank among the best in college football next season, which is so unusual for this program that it must feel like one of those fantasyland Christmas car commercials with a giant red bow placed on top of the luxury car parked in the driveway.

Tanner Morgan emerged as one of the biggest surprises in college football this season in leading the Gophers to 10 wins and a spot in Wednesday’s Outback Bowl against Auburn. Unlike last year, Morgan will enter the offseason as the starter and return next fall as the starter and will be expected to perform at a level that reaches, or exceeds, his record-setting sophomore campaign.

He’s already thinking about self-improvement.

“Know more football,” he said of his offseason agenda.

Go Gophers!!

He has always had to overcome other people's perceptions of his so-called 'limitations'.

And that has lead — directly and unequivocally — to his main source of strength.

Tanner Morgan must (constantly) prove that others are wrong about him. And he always has done so.

Even P.J. Fleck — the self-proclaimed — "King of the Toos" — chose Zach Annexstad as the starter over Morgan.

Wait, didn’t PJ say there would be a competition?

I know it’s ridiculous, but that’s what he said.....

This is at the end of the article at the link.....

Completion percentage: 58.6 in 2018, 66.1 in : 9.2 in 2018, 10.3 in 2019
Yards per game: 155.7 in 2018, 247.9 in 2019
Touchdowns-interceptions*: 9-6 in 2018, 28-6 in 2019
Quarterback rating: 147.6 in 2018, 180.4 in 2019
*-rushed for one touchdown each season.

Been wondering about Zach Annexstad and what he does next. He is clearly capable of starting, does he stick with the Gophers or transfer?

Hahahahaha you can’t be serious?

Leidner holds all-time Gopher records for:

1) Most wins as a starter

2) Most combined touchdowns (passing + rushing).

Those are two pretty impressive records — unless you're just not into the whole 'wins' and 'touchdowns' thing.

True but if your being honest with yourself Leidner should not of been a QB but that was the situation we were in. Kill and company could not identify or develop QB’s

Also these records he has are not that impressive and won’t be lasting very long as long as Fleck is the coach

Adam Weber had 89 career passing+rushing TDs, Khaliq 71, Leidner 69.

Leidner’s best season was 21 combined TDs, which is 7th all time. Morgan and Weber top that list with 29. Morgan with one more game to play, obviously.

I’m going under the assumption these numbers are correct.

I don't think he'll transfer. He'll compete for #2 and probably win that spot. He'll compete to be the starter senior year as Morgan will be one year ahead of him. QBs get injured often and many stick around until an underclassman is ahead of them on the depth chart.

Record setters and our first Jan 1 bowl game in 50 years. Weber to Q to Mitch. We were lucky to have em and tanner has done zip compared to them

Zach should stay here and be a healthy No. 2 QB next year. injuries are a part of football. No. 2 is one unfortunate play away from starting—as Tanner well knows.
