Per Chip:

Rosters undergo substantive changes year to year in the transfer portal era, but the Gophers will start in a good place next season at quarterback. The coaching staff didn’t dip into the portal to find another experienced quarterback after Brosmer departed last offseason because they trusted their evaluation of Lindsey. That looks smart now.

“If he stays [healthy], he will leave with the all-time wins, all-time passing records,” former Gophers quarterback Tanner Morgan said in a conversation back in September. “It will be No. 5 Drake Lindsey [throughout the record book] because that is what he’s doing.”

He became 1-0 against the Badgers on a snowy night that ended with snow angels and an Axe parade. Not a bad punctuation mark on his debut season.

Go Gophers!!

He wasn't as good as Brosmer, but he was close. Stabilize the OL and either bank on Coleman ascending to that true #1 WR spot or find someone who can. If Taylor stays, great. If not, Ijeboi can be the guy.

I like Lindsey. I just wonder what are we doing? My uneducated opinion - he is best in like a 5 wide set, gun, ball out quick offense. He’s a heavy footed dude that can sling it. Is that where we are going? The other QBs on the roster seem a bit more athletic. I love the W today. Still wondering - what are we doing?

Luckily, the coaching staff has all offseason to review film and decide. Hope the bowl game helps with that. Overall, this was a great freshman season and I’m most interested to see in which ways he grows and improves over the offseason. He’s good, but did have some freshman woes in terms of not always spotting open receivers and weak play on the road. I trust that these things will improve.

Needs to get better at timing and short game, but that’s a bit picky. Would love to see three more years of improvement.

I actually think he will thrive more under center with a play action game. His arm, accuracy, and ability to layer the football opens up tons of deep shot concepts you would see teams in the nfl like the vikings or rams run. Put a good oline and run game around him, and we can get 9-10 wins.

Brosmer had 3 extra years of starting college quarterbacking before coming to Minnesota. They really cannot be compared.

Missed observation by most today, but The Drake, while never being mistaken for Lamar Jackson, did a fantastic job of moving in the pocket today, and giving himself options. He was “mobile” but never looking to run, or in fear of being sacked and needing to rabbit out.

With todays effort of ZERO yards rushing (no sacks recorded), that is the second best “rushing” effort of his season.

Only his +3 yards vs Northwestern State has been better.
