CHARLIE JILEK Flips

Lots of hopes for schadenfreude from a few of you. Fleck has been here nine years, you should understand how the system works and how often we hit a double with guys many programs would consider a strikeout before considering an offer.

We don't cast a broad net for 4 and 5 star guys generally, we seek dudes who the staff deems fit for our system and culture. Until you understand that, you're going to be unhappy with recruiting rankings (and even then, our rankings aren't bad). There's a reason we have zero discipline issues off the field, send guys to the pros with regularity, etc. The staff knows what they're doing. And if you'd rather sell the soul of this program for a first round exit in the playoffs, you're short sighted and nihilistic.
Love that word…I never feel like I have the vocabulary ability to throw that around at a cocktail party.

Please consider how challenging it will be for Cignetti to excel in Indiana, given the disadvantages of recruiting to Bloomington, IN.
Bloomington is less than five hours from Ann Arbor, South Bend, and Columbus. Seems like geography isn’t keeping teams down over there. Little different than Iowa, ISU, Wisconsin.

I don’t really care about star ratings.

I do think that offer lists are relevant. There of course are exceptions both ways. Drake being a recent one the good way.

I’m too lazy and not smart enough to do the analysis but I’m betting there is a correlation between playoff teams and high recruiting rankings. But I do think over the last 3-4 years the portal is just as important at HS recruiting.

You know what, thanks for a good reply. I maybe got a little salty in here, it happens.

I was just more frustrated because I loved seeing us offering and getting guys that had lots of P4/5 offers, etc. and it would get talked about and mentioned that we're recruiting at a noticeably higher level than Kill/Claeys. Then this just made me think we're going back down again.

Good point about Kingsbury. I suppose I probably should have said things better and maybe been accepting of the fact that we still might have to take a few projects each year and "hope".

So anywho, cheers to all who wrote decent replies. Sorry if I was too negative.

I've enjoyed following recruiting rankings and player offer lists for the past decade plus.

I can confidently say (this is subjective) the past few years have been the best I've seen and so many players have other P4 and high P4 offers.

Look back at that 2016 Empire Class with Coughlin, Winfield, Martin, Johnson etc. This kid is our 21st rated 247 composite recruit this class and would have the 5 rated composite in that class.

PJ is always going to take underrated Midwest and camp kids and develop them. I would love all 4 star, high offer list kids, but both the ceiling and the floor are in the best place I can ever recall.

I'm really confident and comfortable with written words and a fish out of water in public
I was talking to a woman from Congo. She said she spoke four languages, but when she used to work in a call center, people would get really made at her if her English wasn't perfect. She said she always wanted to say, just once, "Hey dummy, how fluent are you in your fourth language?" I told her I can barely speak English and it's my only one. She laughed so hard.😃

I told a Ukrainian the same thing. He just said matter-of-factly, "You're lucky your one language is English."

I was talking to a Comcast customer support rep. I asked him, why are so many call centers in other countries. He said that they couldn't get people to work in the United States as they didn't like being yelled at. So much for that. Our next recruit will be great!!
