I don't think it's ridiculous at all that Alabama is ranked ahead of Miami. Their 2 best wins, Georgia & S Carolina are far better than Miami's.
'Bama Strength of Schedule is in the teens. 'Canes SOS is the the 60s.
Miami has not beat a team currently ranked in the Top 25.
If others think Miami should be #11 instead of #12 fine...but all the outrage posts is this thread that believe this is rigged are just ludacris.
Both are marginal. I'm fine with giving more credit to better wins than 1 extra loss.
Hurricanes whiffed in Syracuse. Tough.
Yes but Miami’s two losses are to a team that took Georgia to 5 overtimes and to a Syracuse team that would probably beat the hell out of Vanderbilt and Oklahoma
I get quality wins argument if a team has no bad losses.
Miami 2 losses against an easier schedule
But if a team has bad losses you can’t really say that bama would have two losses against Miami’s schedule. They have two losses to teams that are the same or worse as Miami’s two losses.
That’s what I don’t get about the whole conversation.
How do you emphasize quality wins but ignore bad losses?
You should be punished for losing to a .500 or worse team as much as you gain from beating a top 20 team.
If Boise state had beaten Oregon but finished 10-2 would they be rated higher? No way.
The other part that annoys me is that it comes down to SEC vs ACC
The SEC is better.
But bama shouldn’t go before Miami because Florida is better than Florida state
Bama shouldn’t go before Miami because people think Arkansas is better than they think North Carolina state is. But how good Florida, Arkansas, and North Carolina state are doesn’t matter…none of those teams are going. A conference doesn’t go to the playoff, a team does.
The best argument for bama is simply you think bama is better. That’s the only one that makes any sense. I can buy that argument but don’t necessarily agree with it.
