Royce White is NBA-bound.

Sources close to White told CBSSports.com that Iowa State's versatile 6-foot-7, 270-pound forward has signed with an agent.

An official announcement is expected on Wednesday.

White, who didn't play his freshman season at Minnesota due to legal issues and sat out in 2010-11 after transferring to Iowa State, proved he was one of the most multidimensional players in the country.

White averaged 13.4 points, 9.3 rebounds, 5.0 assists this past season and was terrific in the Cyclones loss to Kentucky in the NCAA tournament this past weekend. Hefinished with 23 points, grabbed nine rebounds and had four assists in the 87-71 loss.

White, according to several NBA executives, has likely worked his way into the first round of June's NBA Draft.

Go Gophers!!

Good luck to Royce. I hope he succeeds.

I bet J-Stringz is pumped to be a part of his "entourage" now. So long you airhead. I hope you get drafted by the Bobcats or the Wizards and ride the pine.

Couldn't care less about what he does now or in the future. The kid has shown himself to be selfish headcase in the past and I doubt that much has changed.

I wish him well. I hope he has better people around him than he had while he was here.

I think we all can agree Royce has NBA elite talent. The case has always been about his judgement and decisions. If he has the right people around him he will succeed. If not he will be washed out of the league. I sincerely wish him the best. He was nothing but cordial and courteous when I met him a few years ago.

I'm saying he goes no later than 7th.

You just described every 18 year old I grew up with and probably yourself as well. Glad to see that you have such insight into the growth of a 20 yr old kid

I don't know about you, but I didn't beat up security guards, nor steal things, nor associate with people who stole things, when I was 18. And I didn't exactly hang out with a bunch of choir boys.

Michael Beasley.

At least he'll have money so he won't have to steal jeans anymore!

Neither did I but that doesn't mean that Royce and other people don't grow up and mature. I knew people that did stuff like that and more when we/they were 18 and are now responsible adults, some that mentor youth and work to better their community. Good thing that the rest of society doesn't write kids off at 18 for a few misdemeanors.

It's easier to stay out of trouble when you live in Ames and have no money. Not so much when you have NBA money and the lifestyle that goes along with it.

Do you really think that Royce will hang around Ames when he gets the big bucks?

Elite college talent does not often mean elite NBA talent. I have not idea he will do in the NBA, he averaged 13 & 9 in college, not exactly huge numbers.

Did I say that ? Unless the NBA is going to expand to Ames, having NBA money would probably involve living elsewhere.

Good luck to Royce. I hope he succeeds.

While I am sorry to see him go, I wish Royce the best. In his two years in Ames he has been a model student, athlete and person. He is a "Loyal Son" who will be fondly remembered by ISU fans as a key to restoring Hilton Magic. I had my concerns, but it clearly worked out for all involved.

Thank you, Royce!

I agree that you can't hold things against people forever. But your initial statement implied that his actions were those of a typical 18-year-old, which is just not true at all. Most kids are not lawless morons.

Good luck to Royce! I'm glad to see he has turned his life around. In the middle of the mess I was worried i'd be at Foot Locker (do they exist?) one day and see a 23 yr old Royce White helping people try on shoes. According to everything down in Ames, he's been perfect there, so maybe it really was a wake-up call, we'll see.

I actually think his game translates so well to the NBA.

He wants the NBA $$$ to support his recording career.

I wish Royce well, he's seems to have straightened things out.

Wow, what a bunch of haters on here, I wish Royce the best and hope he can have a long NBA career.

My only thought is I hope he got some good advice and listened to the people that provided it, not his strong suit in the past. Aren't their people that can advise these kids without signing with an agent, that I don't understand. That should be the last thing you do.

Generally the coach advises them on going to the NBA.

Wish him the best too. As much as I was excited for him to play here and as frustrated as I got when he couldn't "keep his nose clean", I don't think he would have ever made it this close to home. He was a kid that needed to get away and play in the middle of Iowa. He needed a clean start.

So now Royce, do you stay on the right path, or follow Allen Iverson's?

Yup...It smarts that he never suited up for us, and it was his fault he didn't but really, don't hate. Best of luck to ya, lad.

Go Gophers!

Instead we'll have to wait a few years to see a 32 year old Royce White helping us try on shoes after he's gone from the league. :D

In all seriousness, the guy is an amazing player and should be a lottery pick. He would have been the best player in Tubby's tenure here.

I would have advised the player whose game doesn't resemble Michael Beasley to come back for another year but hopefully he can use the time between now and the draft to increase his conditioning and speed...both of which I think he is capable of.

I also wish him well, but to state how he did not get in trouble in Ames for over two years, come on, their is really nothing in Ames to get into trouble at, unless you count tipping over cows or counting corn!
