per CBS:

On Saturday, Nebraska paid tribute to former punter Sam Foltz who was killed in an offseason car accident this summer. On its first punt, the Cornhuskers only sent 10 men out on the field and no punter which led to a delay of game penalty to honor Foltz.

Sam's brother Jordan was in attendance at the Nebraska-Fresno State game, and he came home to find his house and car raided by thieves who walked away with over $1,000 worth of loot.

Here's what Jordan wrote on Facebook.

"Tonight as we celebrated and mourned my brother for all he accomplished in his career, as a person, a Nebraskan and a Husker in Lincoln some (expletive) was back here in our hometown breaking into my house and my vehicles, probably seeing our family as a easy target as we were all in Lincoln. These past few weeks have been some of the most hard, tiring, emotional and trying times I've ever ran up against in my 30 years on this earth -- as I lost a friend a role model and most importantly a brother."

It's hard to believe that some people can have such a lack of conscience, but it happens sadly.

Wow. This is unbelievable. Talk about getting kicked when you're already down - how awful.

Life has a way of kicking you when you are down. There are some bad people in this world. Ick.

Sadly, this happens more often than you think.

When my neighbor's husband passed away after a long illness in 1989, she asked my wife to house sit for her while she was at the funeral.

She got a phone call from someone claiming that the National Geographic magazine subscription was up for renewal. When my neighbor came home, she said she never subscribed to the magazine.

Thieves are heartless. They scour through obits and Facebook to find their victims.

This was likely done by someone who knows the brother or knows who he is. Semi related, crap like this is why you don't post every detail of your vacation on social media. The scumbag elements are out there.

If they had ethics, they wouldn't be robbing houses. When I leave town, I try not to make it too obvious that I won't be there. It sucks, but you can't trust everyone in your neighborhood.

My grandma passed away earlier this summer and as we were prepping for the funeral the funeral director made a point to tell us to have someone house sit her house, my parents and my mom's sibling's houses. It is sad that it comes to that.

Most robberies are inside jobs. Someone you know, or someone who knows someone you know. Usually no more than 2 degrees of separation. Read Freakonomics. 1 of 5 people you know or meet would steal from you if given the opportunity. Sad but no less true.
