Can we all agree now that Tubby simply didn't work out at Minnesota

I think what most tend to forget, is that Tubby has recruited some very good talent, and those recruits have either turn their back on the program, or were not able to handle Tubby's discipline or were not capable of playing in his system. To be fair, the team from last year after Nolan went down, lacked leadership, Nolan was that man. Some had to step up an assume that role like Mbakwe did last year, but he lacked the point guard that could help support his game. We only had one threat in Trevor when Hoff became the point. The upperclassmen that are left on this team this year are not those leaders either, I think Tubby knows that, was hoping to have others around in that role so people like Rodney and Ralph were not those guys. They were suppose to be role players, not leaders. Other players like Devoe, White, and Trevor were to serve in those areas, especially if they were all here this year. Now what we have been left with for this season are some very good and capable freshman who are learning on the run, and believe me folks, this will serve us more than anyone can say in the future. Sorry for the rant.

As I seem to recall the joyous exultation amongst the basketball community here was
that we had hired a top 10 caliber, HOF coach who was going to build the program into a perrenial Big 10 competitor. I don't seem to recall ANYONE saying "hurrah, now
we've gotten the coach that's going to take us halfway from the cellar to the middle of the pack in the conference and if we're lucky get in to bubble contention for the NCAA."

that was going to produce something way better than this, is an anal orifice. Of course

Fan expectations are meaningless in terms of what is expected from the administration, the ones actually calling the shots. So, come on, out with it - since you were in the room when the contracts were signed, what was the expectation of Tubby Smith from his superiors?

My gosh, do I ever owe you an apology. I wasn't there, but it turns out there was as secret tape recording made of the meeting. Here's the transcript.

Maturi: Gee coach Smith, we see that you're the coach at one of the premiere basketball programs in the NCAA, and some people view you as a potential HOF coach. If you'd consider signing on here,
we'd like to throw a few million at you over the course of several years.

Smith: Well that's wonderful. I'd be happy to take the job, andd I feel certain that we can take this program up to the level of sneaking into bubble contention for the NCAA some years as long as we don't have any serious injuries, and as long as the fans understand that I will probably run off much of the mid-level talent I manage to bring in, and continually refuse to accept repsponsibility for poor coaching decisions, and late game collapses.

So Tubby hasn't equaled 3 teams that were spread out over 25 years, two of which cheated btw, consistently? THIS PROGRAM HAS SUCH A GREAT TRADITION WITH THESE 3 GREAT TEAMS OVER A 25 YEAR SPAN HOW DARE HE NOT EQUAL THERE OUTPUT!
 



This pissing contest does not even need the Supervisor of Officials to intervene.
