Per Amelia:

“He’ll do things where you go, ‘Oh, my goodness. That kid’s got pro potential,’” Pitino said. “And then he’ll do other things where you just say, ‘What is he doing?’ He’ll drive you insane. But I think when he figures it out, he’s got the most upside of anyone. When I say that, what you see right now is not what you’re going to get with Charles Buggs. Hopefully he will continue to grow and continue to improve because when he puts on weight and when he figures out how to play for me, he’s going to be a very good player down the road. It’s going to take time, though.”

Amelia says Buggs is a "6'7" power forward" but I have to think he's at least 6'9" -- dude looks as tall as Mo Walker. I also think he's not really a power forward. More of a small forward or "hybrid" forward.

Everything I've seen says he's 6'9. There were at least a couple of reports that he grew an inch or two since enrolling.

If he was stand right next to me, I would say he is tall. Period.

You could tell in the picture he has gained a lot of weight. I'm almost positive he's 6-9. Looks like he maybe able to bang if need be and if not this year surely in the future. Potential PF with 3 point range. We'll know soon enough, but I got the impression from his prep school coach, he's a defense first player.

6'-9" minimum probably a little taller. He walked by Siyani Chambers, Chambers- "Holy *expletive* he's tall.

When it gets right down to it, whether he is 6-7 or 6-9 who cares.... go Buggsy and Go Gophers.

MN Daily: Buggs gains weight, shows potential
Redshirt freshman forward Charles Buggs has gained 24 pounds this summer.

Buggs said he wants to get to the 220 to 225-pound range this summer. Brown said by the end of Buggs’ career, he could hold his weight in the high-230s to 240s.

“He’s a hell of an athlete,” Brown said. “There’s no restrictions with him on [his weight gain].”

Honestly, that might be more impressive than Mo's weight loss.

putting 24 pounds of pure muscle is ALOT harder then losing 50 pounds or whatever it is, it takes alot more time as well

He didn't put on 24 pounds of muscle. This is often misunderstood when people talk about athletes. He put on 24 pounds of a combination of muscle and fat. It's more likely that half of it is muscle and half is fat or something close to that.

24 pounds of raw muscles takes year or so for so for someone who has never lifted and has their diet/protein in check. 24 pounds for an experienced lifted takes multiple years.

Still, even 10-12 pounds of muscle is much more difficult than losing 50 pounds.

It's worth noting that Buggs was pretty sick at the start of the summer (mono, I think?). I imagine he weighed a bit less than his normal comfortable weight.

With that said, I absolutely commend him for the work it must have taken to build that muscle. I am sure hoping that he becomes my favorite player next year.

Wasn't that what Walker was told up until Pitino showed up?!

Seriously though, if Buggs can get up close to 240, that would be sweet. I'm guessing he'll settle in the 230s though to keep positional flexibility between the 3 and the 4.
