Tuesday developments?

(1) Bubblers across the nation now have survived two of the three biggest threats to their at-large hopes, with Wichita State in the Missouri Valley and Gonzaga in the WCC winning their conference tourneys. The third one begins tonight, the Mountain West. Anyone other than San Diego State or New Mexico winning the MWC becomes a bid-stealer.

(2) We're still at 13 available bids, but that starts changing today and tomorrow as the major conferences get underway. Quite a few of our stronger bubblers simply need to win one game to lock up a bid, starting this evening with Oklahoma State

If we go 1-1 in the BTT, could a close loss vs a blowout to Wisconsin factor in?

As a whole I don't put much stock in margin of victory/defeat. That said if I were the Gophers I certainly wouldn't want my final impression for the selection committee to be a non-competitive loss. Was thinking of that last night when BYU was getting drilled by Gonzaga at halftime (the Cougars fought back to make it interesting).

You've got to think the "eye" test is a factor. I can't imagine that the selection committee is 100% about the paper arguement (stats and numbers). If Arkansas gets drilled by TN, I cannot imagine that helps that they got blown out twice with a bid on the line. If a lot of bubble teams struggle in their opening game, thats where a close game against WI (OT, etc) could help... who knows.

NDSU really lucked out last night. They'll be one and done. NDSU fans are really beauties. Rank right up there with the Skunks and the Chicken Hawks. Fans showing " Final Four " signs. I could pickup five HS kids playing at the Recreational Center here in Florida and beat them like a drum. There are so many great young athletes down here it
blows your mind. All Billy Donovan has to do is step out the back door and walk over to the local playground.

Yes, please poison another thread with your venom toward any school not named Minnesota. We have plenty of "beauties" in the Gopher fan base, too.

How long do you stand before a 3 foot putt, and then miss it ? These are natural rivalries Selection. Your passive nature is what is wrong with the Minnesota fan base. Get some swagger in your ass Selection.

Yep, the guy who posts regular and detailed analyses of the NCAA tournament picture to try to give non-basketball guys like me a chance to understand all of the moving pieces is what is wrong with the Minnesota fanbase.

Wake Forest beats Notre Dame in ACC 1st round, Deacons get Pitt in tomorrow's 2nd round. Certainly Deacs capable of beating bubble dweller Pitt.

Utah squeaks past Washington. Would a win over Arizona put them back into tournament talks or do they need to run the table at this point?

I will be routing for Texas Tech and dear old Tubby tonight over OSU. Anyone see the spread on this game?

Don't know

The PAC tourney is in Vegas. Maybe bigten expansion should add consideration for somewhere nice to hold the tourney in march
If we had added Texas we could have done sxsw btt

If USC, the bottom team in the PAC 12, knocks off Colorado, as is currently happening in the second half, will that be enough to drop Colorado into the bubble discussion?

I would have to think so, but now USC is down 4 late.

Colorado up 58-50 with three minutes left.

Need them to beat Cal tomorrow.

Yeah....it's probably better that Colorado won. We need them to take down Cal.

Just thinking about it now, I agree with you. It is much better for them to take down Cal and get them out of the picture.

I disagree about Colorado, think a loss would've put them in danger plus giving Cal an opening opponent of USC wouldn't help them.

Nothing good happening so far tonight, but boy, if WSU could somehow, some way upset Stanford it would make me jump for joy.

DePaul trailing Georgetown 23-22 right now. 1:27 until half.

OSU is down by a point against Oregon @ half.

If either Georgetown or Stanford lose tonight let's call it a great night.

Thoughts on Collinsworth torn ACL? Their 2nd leading scorer along with 8 RPG and 4.6 assists.

I was just going to post on that. Lots of discussion on twitter about whether that will affect their possible tourney berth. Personally, I think they're in anyway. Not a great resume, but good enough... some bad losses and lots of no-name wins, but they did win 23 games and beat Stanford, Texas, and Gonzaga. Too bad they didn't lose to San Fran, could've gone either way and in retrospect that might've knocked them out.

Yeah, but I'm kind of counting GTown out anyway since they have Creighton on deck. Anything can happen though, so yeah it'd be nice to get them off the table now.

Without a doubt this will be a hot topic for the selection committee given, at least imo, he is their 2nd best player. I could see the committee rewarding them with a bid, based on what they have done, and just putting them in the first 4 games,

G'Town down 6 with 5 minutes left. Cue DePaul choking it in the final minute #BigEast.
