Bubblicious Tuesday: Pitt playing like the pits

OMGGGGG who saw that! Marquette

That shot was awesome even though it was a second late. March is the best.

Looking more like it will take 3 more wins for the Gophers. I had a hunch before the Michigan game that they needed that one. Hopefully, they'll prove me wrong and go deep in the BTT. It's hard to be optimistic about that possibility.

Marquette sure pissed that one away...

What a wonderful night to be a gophers basketball fan...

I half expected Vince McMahon to come out on the court with all the bizarre stuff that went on in that Marquette-Providence game. Probably not the end of the world that Providence won as they still have to go to Creighton. Not impressed with the Friars at all. As I write this ASU is down 7 at Oregon, so it's very possible every game tonight will go against the Gophers, depending on if you were rooting for/against Florida State.

Lunardi says Providence bumped us out of the last 4 in spot...

You might be right. They will definitely need to beat PSU and win their 1st round game to get back in the conversation with all the bubble teams winning this week. My guess is that winning those 2 games won't be enough. I sure hope they face Wisconsin as they may need the opportunity to win against a Top 10 RPI team to get in. Things aren't falling the Gophers way this week.

We have no one to blame but ourselves. Unless we salvage this season by going on a 3 game win streak, we'll be haunted by home losses to Illinois and Northwestern till next October.

Way too early in the week to be claiming the Gophers need 3 wins. With the exception of Baylor, nobody put themselves in the tournament tonight and Baylor was already ahead of the Gophers coming in to the night. Certainly not a good night for the Gophers, but plenty of games left that can change the picture between now and the Big Ten Tournament. .

Keep in mind......these other bubble teams winning one game doesn't signal the end. They don't get "in" with one win much like we don't. At this point, we need to beat PSU and our first round tournament game, no question. That might not be enough.

Our NCAA hopes may hinge on the second round tournament game......it may not. Let's wait to see how the remainder of the season shakes out. Keep in mind.....we still sit in the mid 40's for RPI. Winning our next two with a loss to one of the top five Big Ten teams will not drop us that far I wouldn't think.

Rick Pitino has a lot of influence on the NCAA Selection Committee and he will make a big push with them to include the Gophers. Well at least that's what Sid said on the Sunday night Sports Show.

Yes. I found this laughable on the premise alone.

Florida State won but I don't think their RPI even changed with the win over BC.
They are still RPI of 57 so they aren't moving into the top 50 it appears.

I would think beating Syracuse would get them close to that number. Seminoles are getting the Orangemen at the right time, and in Tallahassee to boot.

Those 2 home games hurt but the one that would have been huge to get was the OT game at Michigan St.

Team may have a chance at a similar type win by beating PSU and winning the 1st round BTT game.

We could play "what-if" with a lot of games this year. I'll throw out the Michigan game at home as well. GRIII was out in the 2nd half and Michigan wasn't playing all that great back then. That was a blown opportunity, if I remember right we played pretty awful at the end of that game.
