3. Minnesota. There has been a longing need for playmakers on the perimeter since Jerry Kill arrived in 2011. Freshmen Jeff Jones (a converted running back), Eric Carter, Isaiah Gentry and Melvin Holland Jr. could provide a needed boost for an offense that too often plods along. Wideout coach Brian Anderson needs to cultivate this promising young talent. KJ Maye and Drew Wolitarsky are the vets who must lead the way. It hurts that Donovahn Jones (dismissed) and Isaac Fruechte (graduated) are gone. And tight end Maxx Williams bolted early for the NFL with two years of eligibility left after winning the Big Ten Tight End of the Year award. No way he is replaced. Lincoln Plsek is next man up.

Go Gophers!!

Figures it's a Dienhart article, the level of analysis stinks, Duke will be the next man up at TE as far as receiving is concerned.

The fact that we come in #3 and Wisconsin comes in #2 in the division in WR/TE play says all you need to know about the state of those positions in the Big Ten West. I remember when we played Wisconsin last year thinking this was probably the most pathetic stockpile of receivers I can ever remember from these teams.

Now granted we have potential to get a lot better at WR if any of these young guys pan out but it tells you a lot when based 90% on totally unproven talent we are still better off than over half the conference. The Big Ten West really is a mess on the offensive side of the ball pretty much across the board.

We like Dienhart now because he predicted we will win the West....you must have missed the memo.
