Bruce Odson: Conversation is that Aaron Johnston will be Minnesota’s first choice if Lindsay Whalen does not turn the Gophers around next year.

Reusse seems to think the job is his "if" they will let Coyle hire another male woman's coach since VB and hockey already have them.
Reusse has burned too many bridges being an arrogant know it all ripping people to have any inside info. If there is one thing Coyle has really impressed me with, is his ability to keep a secret about a new hire, right to the bitter end.

If coming into the Barn and winning (twice) with Minnesota players that the Gophers never attempted to recruit makes one a tool, then I guess AJ qualifies. Maybe the Gophers should start scheduling regional teams like USD and SDSU again so you can get your chance at revenge.
Banham is available

We all know he will hire a black women. Plan on it.
No we don't. He's got pressure on him to get it right this time so I think he hires the best candidate. He could be in some trouble otherwise.

^This. He's just a bitter old semi-retired man who mostly likes reminiscing about 1970-something. He could be right but he's just spitballing his opinion, no one has him on speed dial with hot tips and he ain't having lunch with anyone in the know that might talk to him.

That's a good point. He's actually been fairly adept at that. It's a mistake if there hasn't been some vetting for both the MBB and WBB HC positions, at least preliminarily, for a month or two by now. Most AD's have a list in their pocket at any point in time, regardless of how they currently have as coach. You'd be dumb not to
