Max would be QB2 for many teams. I'm not sure the Vikings are one of them however. He's better than Rypien.
Howell has a career 77.5 passer rating. More INT than TD. Might not take long for Brosmer or any other QB to pass him up on the depth chart.Max would be QB2 for many teams. I'm not sure the Vikings are one of them however. He's better than Rypien.
Max has as many starts as the starter...no chance he is the backup barring injuries. Howell may suck but he has experience if JJ goes down or struggles a bit.Howell has a career 77.5 passer rating. More INT than TD. Might not take long for Brosmer or any other QB to pass him up on the depth chart.
We’ve been thru this before.Max looked very good today for an UDFA. Personally I would like to see them keep 3 QBs. They really might have a gem there if he can keep progressing.
I'm not one to jump on every Gopher QB or 3rd stringer. In fact, I came into the draft process saying he is almost for sure a practice squad guy that bounces around a few years and either goes into coaching ot goes to medical school. This reminds me a lot of the Tanner Morgan buzz in here a few years ago.
I’m rooting for Brosmer big time but most of the takes on here have almost no basis in reality.
Would be great can stick on the practice squad, but posts on here about being QB2 on a team with playoff aspirations? Getting a little crazy in here.
Hey I hope you are right, but we are 1 preseason game and a couple of weeks of training camp.I'm not one to jump on every Gopher QB or 3rd stringer. Now after what people been saying about how training camp is going and what we saw in the game, I'm thinking he has a legit chance to play in the league.
This isn't about press clippings or tweets from team sites, we saw it with our eyes. Anyone who's watched a decade's worth of pro football could see the difference between Brosmer yesterday and all the other NFL hopeful Gopher qbs of the past. He's wasn't amazing but his awareness, patience, and poise in the pocket were consistent with average at worst guys at the pro level. It's extremely realistic for him to be qb3 if he maintains his level of commitment to making the team and Rypien keeps dicking around, and someone else will give him a look before we have a chance to sign him to the practice squad.Hey I hope you are right, but we are 1 preseason game and a couple of weeks of training camp.
It’s an NFL training camp, just about everyone on every team:
-“in the best shape of their careers”
-“the game has really slowed down”
-“exceeding expectations”
-“chance to be a real contributor”
-“a diamond in the rough”
On at least two occasions we have heard teams and their press rave about Tyler Johnson only to seem him cut.
A wise man once said optimism should be your food, but salt needs be your realism.
If it was press clippings or news from training camp it would probably carry more weight. NFL teams don’t place much value on preseason games. That’s why there are fewer games and playing time is reserved for the borderline guys. This isn't about press clippings or tweets from team sites, we saw it with our eyes. Brosmer looked much more polished than any Gopher QB that I have seen going back to the 80's(unless I'm forgetting someone). This isn't about press clippings or tweets from team sites, we saw it with our eyes. Loved? By what measure? The Halsey Hall Sobriety Scale?Hahah I know they are loved, but I cannot stand the Vikings radio crew.
I'm hoping he goes past Full Mike Hohensee. He went full Leidner.
Cory Sauter stuck around for a little while in the NFL.Brosmer looked much more polished than any Gopher QB that I have seen going back to the 80's(unless I'm forgetting someone).
Not saying he's due to be a starter anytime soon or even a backup. However, he does look like he has enough arm, smarts, and overall ability to stick in the NFL for a while.
I feel like he has a solid chance of being a backup somewhere in the next few years. And once you're a backup you're just one injury away from getting a chance. So still a long way to go for Max but he is exceeding my expectations. I was pretty sure he would come in and definitely look like he should be cut, but he doesn't. He may still get cut but it would be more a numbers thing than him not being good enough to play in the NFL.

I have to admit I was wrong as well. His first 4 games I thought he looked like a High School QB out there playing against college players. He really turned his season around after really the Iowa game which may have opened up his eyes a little as he was great the first half and abysmal the 2nd. After that though he was pretty much lights out!I was 120% wrong about Brosmer. Huge fan of the kid. Stuck with bad o-line and play calling the first half of last year. He's legit.
I wondered about his arm strength, but he showed as last season went on that he has at least an average arm. He's not going to become Aaron Rodgers, but the raps on Rodgers as he came into the league were his arm strength and Jeff Tedford's tutelage. I think arm strength can increase in the pros with better coaching and deeper analysis.I have to admit I was wrong as well. I've always thought during the season and especially looking back that the game was just too fast at the start for Brosmer and it took 4 games to slow down. After that speaks for itself.I have to admit I was wrong as well. His first 4 games I thought he looked like a High School QB out there playing against college players. I think he might be able to make the team too(practice squad). I just found the comments about #2 QB or how long until he is QB1 to be a bit over the top.The buzz about Brosmer making the squad is totally realistic given the mediocrity in the QB room. The 2025 Vikings aren't the 2001 Patriots with Bledsoe starting and Tom Brady backing up. It doesn't matter if the Vikes have playoff aspirations or not. It is what it is.

Gotta have both.A question for you (and your wise man):
As daily sustenance, would you rather attempt to survive on salt... or solid food?
The reason I ask is this: we have people here on Gopher Hole who are all salt and no sustenance.
Gotta have both.
I agree, totally fine, but then it isn’t a discussion about what is happening, but rather what we want to happen.Gopher fans who are optimistic and enthusiastic about Brosmer's performance aren't going to cause any distress, pain or hardship. I really don't see a need to attempt to tamp down the good vibes.
Brosmer just might surprise us. People seem to enjoy rooting for an underdog like Max.
Well... to be completely fair, some people enjoy it. Others, maybe not so much, I suppose. But that's their thing.

3 months ago, 0 of the 32 teams were willing to use a draft pick on him. A week and half of no contact practice and a quarter and some change against guys that probably aren’t going to be NFL players and now he is should at least be a 2nd QB in the NFL?
Nobody here thinks that opinion might be colored by the fact that he uses to play for our favorite team?
