Brohm added Purdue's seventh transfer addition of this off-season yesterday, with a defensive end from Murray State who was all Ohio Valley in 2020, but was banged up this year.

He is joining wide receivers Tyrone Tracy (Tracy had a standout freshman season with the Hawkeyes, leading Iowa with 589 receiving yards in the 2019 season. He has seen a decrease in production over the past two seasons, with 154 yards in 2020 and 106 yards in 2021.) and Elijah Canion, who was buried on the depth chart at Auburn.

Also, a running back Christopher Brooks, who led Cal in yards in 2019 and 2021.

An offensive lineman Sione Finau comes from FIU with three years experience..and defensive backs Tee Denson who was in two deep at KSU and Bryce Hampton from d2 Adams State. Purdue also added running back Sampson James before this past season From Indiana.

Schools on the Minnesota/Purdue tier are perfectly positioned for the portal IMO.

  • Can take "transfers down" from places like Alabama and Clemson
  • Can take "transfers up" from places like Western Kentucky and Texas
  • Top guys at places like Minnesota or Purdue are generally not transferring to Bama. If they are awesome they declare for NFL draft.

Per your 2nd bullet. I see what you did there.

Doesnt this actually make sense? Let the 5 star and top 4 star kids go to OSU and realize they have 2 or 3 other 5 stars in their place. Meanwhile, mid tier teams need to hit the portal to get the polished G5 and lower kids who were under recruited initially. This is where teams in the B1G West make up ground on the B1G East in recruiting IMO. Let them sign the top high schoolers. We can take the already proven college players.
