He is an interesting prospect.

If he has the speed to play wr I'd keep him there. He ran some nice corner fades and jumped up to catch the ball at a high point. And he can lay the hammer down when blocking, some of those hits were monsters. I love that from a wr! But yeah, even against the h.s. competition he didn't have blazing speed.

It would be nice to have a 6-4 safety with ballhawk skills.
 

I asked him and he said that they will have him focus on playing wide receiver.

OVERVIEW: Will join the Gophers in summer 2013.

HIGH SCHOOL: Attends Brookfield East High School • caught 31 passes for 518 yards and seven touchdowns as a senior • on the defensive side, recorded 45 tackles and nine interceptions in 2012 • All-State, All-Conference, All-County and All-Area as a senior • 2012 Greater Metro Conference Defensive Back of the Year • tallied 12 receptions for 193 yards and six TDs as a junior • coached by Tom Swittel.

PERSONAL: Born August 2, 1995 • son of Kortney and Brian Smith • plans to major in finance.
