5-7 this year, 5-7 next year. At least under Mason we could score and look like a legitamate B10 team. This is beyond pathetic. Changes must and should be made Mr. Maturi.

Mason lost 44-0 the last time he was at the Shoe.

It doesnt matter what Mason did in his last year at the Shoe. The point is Brewster is not qualified to coach in the Big Ten. Has him or this coaching staff EVER heard of freaking second half adjustments?!? This team just simply gives up once they get down. NO discipline. Mason is/was a better coach then Tim Brewster.

They will be lucky to beat Illinois at home this season and salvage a 6-6 season. If they lose that game and go 5-7, Maturi has every reason to can his sorry a ss! 13-24 in three seasons will be the ammunition he needs.

look at him with that confused ass look on his face

I've been hoping Brewster was the guy, each game is making it tougher to believe.

You can recruit all the talented goons you want, but if you cant coach them simple fundamentals and discipline they will keep making the same mistakes over and over again. Right Brew?

SO true. Going into the Penn State, Ohio State game I think most people figured we would lose. But we didn't think we were going to get utterly embarrassed in both games and I mean we got embarrassed on national television at that. Mason could at least have us hang in there and make things interesting. Michigan State now looks like a very large, dangerous mountain to climb and we don't have hiking boots. Get my drift????

Just think how good Mason would have had us if he could have recruited like Brewster.

the guys he recruited are all freshmen or red shirt freshmen

relax people

Has Brew's team ever made a comeback? He has never upset an opponent. It's been 3 years.

1999 at 2 Penn State
2000 at highly ranked OSU
2005 at Michigan
Iowa and Wisconsin victories.

3 bowl wins in a row.

We will be LUCKY to get to a bowl this year or next, pal.

Syracuse, Northwestern, and Purdue, WOW, how are we not ranked??

that was an average Ohio State team that was just begging to be upset. while the idea of changing coaches is not something I like to see, I have completely been converted and have lost all faith in Brewster. The blind Brewster supporters can talk recruiting all they want but rivals stars don't mean squat on the field. Being highly rated didn't help Eric Lair from having that big third down pass bounce right off his chest. Whats really sad is to read all the posts from Gopher fans here and on the other site who seem pretty content in losing this game since it was Ohio State, what did you expect. That was an extremely winable football game for a competant football team, which it's painfully obvious we are not

I have seldom seen a more undisciplined team than this Gopher team…they are tanking it! I can’t wait to hear how proud Brewster was of our effort. Let me tell you , when you see a player fighting with a coach on the sidelines…the end isn’t far behind. Here my pick, the only game we win the rest of the year is the Jack Rabbits, and hell, we might even lose that one. They should be ashamed of their efforts the last two week. Pryor looked like a Heisman candidate against us and I think Decker is done for the year. Nothing good to report. Go hire Tommy Tuberville RIGHT EFFING NOW!

Dude, Mason was a horrible game-day coach. he did have some big wins but he had five times as many utter implosions. He was also blown out many times on national tv. Brewster is a used-car salesman and needs to go, but please don't compare anyone to Mason.

I totally agree. It is so frustrating because Brewster really brought the interest level in the program way, way up. But now that he can never win a meaningful game I fear it may go right back down where it came from, along with his ability to recruit. How long can you sell a "program on the rise" when it isn't going anywhere? Now, I may be irrational at the moment, but if we get our butts kicked by Michigan State Brewster is going to be in the dog house.

Mason was a horrible game day coach? At least he beat Penn State, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa etc etc. Brewster has not come CLOSE to doing so.

I agree. Good grief, how did Hayo Carpenter get 4 stars from Rivals??

Brewster could pull his rear end out of the fire if this happens: he pulls Weber and inserts Gray and we go 2-2 and win a bowl game with Gray. People will be back on board.

Having said that, I'd be fine hearing that Maturi is is working the phones behind the scenes, whether that is with Philip Fulmer, Turner Gill, or whoever (I'd love Brian Kelly, but I'm afraid this job would not be seen as a big step up for him).

But if we fire Brew who will water the grass from the Rose Bowl or is it dead now???

hey you all...im a hawkeye fan but youre right about stars not meaning crap. We had a bunch like that a few years back and it gave us nothing. However were fortunate to have one of if not the best fundamentally sound hc in the country in KF..makes a difference when you can actually develop players who fit your system. most of his success is never with the highly rated recruits, but the overlooked ones who fit the hawkeye system. Brewster needs to figure that out quick. But give the guy a break hes from Colorado..too little oxygen to the brain.....

If the Gophers finish 5-7, that most likely means they lost to Iowa, Michigan State and then either Illinois at home or South Dakota State. A loss to Illinois or South Dakota State at home to go 5-7 and miss a bowl, and it's over Brewster. No excuses.

I tend to agree. Before the season I said:

8-4 or better: A-give him his extension

7-5: B-Give him at least a one year extension and keep rolling

6-6: C: Letting him go could be justufied, but probably just let him coach out his contract

5-7: D: A firing is more then justified, especially if no trophy games are won (which would now be certain)

4-8 or worse:100% gone.'

I stand by this now.

Yes and he also got blown out 44-0 by tOSU in 2006 (not to mention all of the other blowouts); had some of the greatest implosions I've ever seen (Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas Tech, I could go on and on); said we were "rebuilding" in year 10 of his tenure; said we could never win at Minnesota; was continuously looking for a better job; and was one of the most arrogant d-bags I've ever met.

Mason was a brutally bad gameday coach. That's not saying Brewster is a good gameday coach, but Mason was horrible.

please watch at least one game before posting. Your question is stupid, We have had multiple comeback games this season already.

I can't believe you people are calling for Brewsters head, You are all as stupid as the people in Ohio calling for Tressels head. I would not trade Brew for another Big Ten coach, he is the right person at the right time and we are closer to big ten titles then we have been in decades and if you can't see that you are looking to close at wins and losses and not enough at the big picture of building a big time program
