at his close friend and former boss Mack Brown---the Texas coach. On Mike Max show he said he talked to Mack about breaking the deal playing Texas some years down the line. Mack told him he couldnt control the situation but people higher up pulled the rug under the deal. Brewster says no one is higher up than Mack Brown in the Texas heirarchy and isnt buying it. He seemed quite upset with his old friend Mack.

Sounds like a bad rift between the families. Nolan should probably transfer to the U.

Brown has seen the top level talent that Brewster is accumulating and decided to chicken out and pull out of the series.

Pretty clear what happened here.

Whether it is due to video rights or stellar recruiting, we know Wisconsin will not be replacing us on their schedule.

But I swear I saw Bielema was talking to Texas about a trip to Camp Randall later in the decade....

Oh...my bad...that was Texas-Arlington.:D

Oh so funny! Nice to still see Badger fans who can't stay away from our boards. Good grief, the last thing I'd do is waste my time trolling Badger or Hawkeye forums.

Weak Sisters of the Poor
Wisconsin School for the Blind...

seriously though, was Butt Boy asleep in the meeting when Oregon State was added? It's a team that can play well sometimes, i.e. USC 2008...I also find it funny that USD is on their schedule in 2011 especially after all the b.s. about USD and NDSU on ours.

Dakota schools

When you're Minnesota, there's absolutely nothing wrong with having a Dakota school on
the schedule. They're close, they'll bring fans, and for them its their Super Bowl, which
makes it a tough game.

I would rather see a Minnesota school on the slate instead, but nobody in the state is
stepping up to the FCS plate (Minnesota State, St. Cloud, etc). So....the Dakota
schools are the next best thing.

There's nothing wrong with it, IMHO. I know others might disagree....so be it.

Yeah, I don't mind seeing one of those schools every year.

If we saw the best of what NDSU can bring to Minneapolis, imagine what the full force of Minnesota football fans could do to Fargo.

It's sad because it will never happen. Why? Nobody wants to go to Fargo.

I like the Dakota schools on the schedule too...

but the 19,000 Fargodome, not a dome, whatever it is called these days would not be in any way able to absorb half of the Gophers force in that facility. Now it's a great structure for a DII school and a decent one for a FCS, but is Idaho like for a FBS school, or even one game. I think you were being facetious, but it does bring back the idea of a year in year out OOC rival. Iowa State is popular, but not going to happen with them playing Iowa. Nebraska was also a good choice but obviously not available. Who's left? I really am looking for a FBS school but are on a multi-year NDSU, SDSU, and USD rotation? I know this has been covered before, but camp does start for a few days and I need something to keep me going.

Minnesota 2011

New Mexico State

North Dakota State

How is that any better than what Wisconsin is doing?
Who has beaten USC 2 of the last 3 years? OREGON STATE
Who finished 2nd in the PAC10 last year? OREGON STATE
You bash Wisconsin for playing San Jose State but you guys play them in '13 and '14.
Now with Texas off who do you guys play?
Wisconsin has both Virgina Tech and Washington in the future.....and both in one season.....point is don't toss rocks when you live in a glass house.

Is life in HELL (Wisconsin)....

really so bad that you have to spend all your time trolling on your rival's board? I have never been to a Wisconsin board and never will. You have played a weak schedule in the recent past and even your fan base has been bitching about it.
Oregon State hasn't beaten anybody but USC, who by the way we play this and next, but is a noticeable improvement.
We didn't back out, Texas did, we will fill the gap the best we can.
You brought a knife to a gun fight.

That was my point. We would bring that place down to the ground!

As far as an out of conference rival... yeah, we've discussed it a bunch before.

Options high on my list would be Colorado (unlikely), Missouri, Pitt, any of the service academies, Washington, Kansas.

I would say we could just play Augsburg, but they probably will be playing wisky for the next ten years.

I would pay just to see Lakesbison crying in the rubble and ashes of his beloved home field. I say for that reason alone lets do it! Of course one stipulation would be that we would get the home field allotment of tickets...lol.
I knew and stated, it was covered ground, but the days before camp are always very long and, as my lunch nears it second hour, I need things to fill the time.
Oh, I had heard that Augsburg was deemed to hard a foe so wisconsin cooled on them and are now working out a deal with Crown College, or Saint Scholastica.

Gees, grow-up that's EXACTLY what's going on here, but in reverse.

The other Big Ten schools, Wisconsin and Iowa in particular, were endless and unrelenting in their ridicule of Mason's weak Non-Conference schedule. That's the reason that it's your glass house that's getting stoned.

Most Badger fans believe that anything that happened prior to 1993 is irrelevant. You might be the first one to draw the line at 2011.:banghead:

How about BSU

We should add Boise State, they have openings now that they've moved to the MWC and no longer want to play Idaho. It would be a good weather break for Minnesotans if they schedule it for late in the season. Of course BSU might not be real fond of TCF in the late fall. And BSU keeps saying they could beat any B10 team.

Boise State's AD had been quoted as saying they'll play "anybody at anytime". The sticking point is that they'd also want to be paid $1,000,000 to do it.

They backed-off that stance somewhat when they were confronted with it, but unless they back-off a whole bunch no, they shouldn't be scheduled.

Nebraska is by far our the non-conference opponent that we have played the most, with 51 games. When the join the Big Ten, that will add an old rival back on the schedule. I think I can guarantee that it will work out better than 1983 - yes, I know that's really going out on a limb. After that, it's Iowa State with 26 games, Washington with 17 games, Pitt with 12 and Ohio with 10.

There are some opponents that we played a lot well back in the past, but those are obsolete, since we don't play at the same level - there is no such thing as a cross divisional rival. We've played Carleton 10 times, Ex-Collegiates 10 times, Grinnell 16 times (we beat Grinnell 102-0 in 1902, and beat them 146-0 in 1904. I'm willing to play them if they are), High Schools 17 times, North Dakota 19 times and South Dakota 10 times.

Playing an FCS/I-AA team is a reality for most teams most years. When we play I-AA teams, I would prefer that it be a team from the region, and not one from halfway around the country that few here have heard of. But there is no reason for one particular I-AA team to be that team, there are a number to choose from.

You know what I don't care about the past, I did not bring up the past. I brought up a point backed it with some facts and got called names.

Wisconsin's future schedule was brought up and the point I made was that Minnesota's was no better. Am I wrong about that?

By the way who was playing for the Pac10 title in the last week of the regular season? Oregon State.

Wow John Clay looks fat. Our schedule is tougher this year than Wisconsins. Also, we have Oregon St and UNC in the next few years.

Brewster should be steamed! He was a great recruiting coordinator for Mac Brown, sent is son to play for him, and now Brown pulls this?

That would be like if you agreed to get together with a long time friend for the holidays, and while he was over he got hammered, made a pass at your wife, and puked on the christmas tree...and then later claimed he had no power over his actions or bodily functions because they were higher up the chain.

A guy I went to high school with had a similar experience, except replace the christmas tree with glass display case and puked on with knocked over. I think the display case was full of hummel figurines or dolls. The husband wasn't too mad, but the wife was livid.

":blah::blah::blah::blah::blah::blah::blah::blah::blah::blah::blah:" translates to "Yeah, I was wrong but I'm too much of a little weasel to admit it!"

Nice to see Brewster showing some backbone here. I like it!

We play Oregon State, North Carolina and Navy over the next 10 years. At least on par with Va. Tech and Washington

You missed my point, troll. I don't know and I don't care. You Budgie fans are always more obsessed with the Gophers than you are with Wiskonsun. I have never been to, read anything from, or had any desire to post anything on PigRedMachine.com. Go away.

BSU's administrators have been known to say a lot of stupid things, but that's to be expected given their lowly academic rankings. Since they've been having a very dificult time scheduling quality NC opponents, they've backed way off on demands, even though they still think they are 'the second coming' personified.
