You know that I say to Kansas: "Take him!" Wow! I can't believe Kansas is pursuing Tim frickin Brewster. The biggest joker of a coach in Gophers history.

Be careful what you wish. If he does leave, we're in a pinch to hire a coach with a bowl and recruiting looming.

did you really have to start a new thread to make a sarcastic comment?

Who do you want as the head coach? If Brew bolts, where does the program go from here? We for sure will not get SH, and I would venture a guess that Gjere and others would bolt as well (and don't give me the Huff, etc. have already bolted angle - the fact that we are competing for TX talent like that at this point is a step forward). The point is that Brew has clearly improved the recruiting and having him leave now would be a big loss for the program. Quit listening to the Reusse, Souhan, Shooter & Barreiro b.s.

Thank you! I can't believe some of the crap that comes out of our "fans" 's mouths. It won't last forever though, pretty soon 3 of the 4 will be out of jobs because nodody actually pays to read their columns.

If brew bolts to Kansas it's not because he wants to be in kansas. It's because of a lack of comittment from the University. Every prospective coach knows that. Who will take the job that isn't taking it as a giant step up knowing that. We'll be rolling the dice on another unproven. A better coach will require at least six years and huge money. It's just not a good situation for us. we're not going to win unless we get really lucky.

Well, let's look back at the last coaching hiring. Maturi said the fact that Brewster had not served as a coordinator or a head coach didn't concern him. Hopefully he learned his lesson. Known coaches who interviewed last time and what they've done since:

Tim Brewster - Minnesota (1-11, 7-6, 6-6)

Gary Patterson - TCU (8-5, 11-2, 12-0)
Lane Kiffin - Tennessee (7-5)
Mike Haywood - Miami-OH (1-11)
Charlie Strong - just hired to Louisville

It's just as possible if Brewster leaves it will be because he couldn't take the unrelenting criticism from the media and the fans. Was a lot of it unfair? Sure; but he's also seemed to be as thin skinned and stubborn as anybody that we've seen around here in a long time.

And that includes Dennis Green, Tom Barnard and Jesse Ventura!

Is this a joke. Brew's current recruiting class is seventh in the 11-team Big 10 according to Scout.com. He has ONE frickin 4 star recruit signed. I don't have to read columnists to form my opinion about Brewster. I am a fan of the Gophers, not Tim Brewster.

Kansas is finally getting us back for stealing Mason away from them!!

I think he talks with his mentors quite a bit, it's hard for me to imagine with all that help he can't sort through what is material and what is not. I don't think hurt feelings will factor in much. Is it possible he over inflates the impact of the local media's negativity because of it, yeah maybe. But I think it comes down to job security and his prospects for success. A lack of an extension and the fact that his recruiting network will now be in his conferences geographic region are bigger factors. If there is an offer, and if Maturi doesn't counter, he's gone and for all of the right practical reasons. Hurt feelings will never even factor in.

BREWSTER IS NOT GOING TO KANSAS. THEY DO NOT WANT HIM. THIS WAS MADE UP BY BREWSTER AND IT IS BLOWING UP IN HIS FACE.

How do you know this Pete? Doogie has already confirmed that their is dialogue. Oh, and your cap lock is on.

Handsome one, I don't want to go the ad hominem route, but your negativity gets really grating.

Schnoodler -- the only dialogue I eluded to was Brewster having Mack Brown and a few others call Lew Perkins/Kansas on his behalf. I don't think Kansas has any interest.

Fine, but how do you know KU doesn't have any interest? How is it you know who has been calling Perkins? Are you having an affair with Perkins' secretary? And why am I out of ice cream? i'm telling your wife. Ok, I won't. but shame on you anyway.

LOL............So Brewster is TRYING to get interviewed for this job. Lots of luck - I am REALLY
worried!!! (sarcasm)

You should be worried. Brewster initiated the contact, and it's now public. Good-bye recruiting, good-bye rebuilding, good-bye Brewster (via Maturi).... back to the drawing board. We're back in a tailspin.

Not "hurt feelings" at all but the possibility of success for sure. Sure getting your ego constantly battered can't help, but for a recruiter like Brewster, to have every thing you say not only reviewed by disputed has to be a major frustration. Now throw in the lack of any visible public support from boosters, media or alumni and well, how can he think he can win around here.

That I don't know for sure, but it looks like they are settling on the Buffalo coach, or someone else ... An agent who Brewster was in contact with was calling around to a few reporters ... and as for your ice cream question, that I have no answer for, but I could go for some.

So an agent for Brewster drummed this up? Why? Is he that insane, or does the agent dislike Brewster? It's professional suicide.

So what you're saying is that not only did Brewster initiate contact but he used an agent to out himself. Doesn't this start to seem like perhaps the facts don't add up. If he were going to utilize an agent it wouldn't be to out himself, but rather to alert the media that he was under consideration to put pressure on maturi. i still don't see the evidence that it's all manufactured by Brewster even if it is. It seems too conveniently like something the negative media would like to believe. And I don't know how they can know without getting it from the horses mouth. Unless Perkins said this, or Brewster, or one of Brewsters confidants said this, who would know? Seems like a bunch of extrapolations.

Do you see why I come to this message board? It is better than any soap opera on TV!
What is "Crazy" Tim Brewster going to do next? Who knows?

Note to Tim -- maybe you should be worrying about your offense and stop worrying about the Kansas job and you will be ok. There is NOOOOOOOOOOO way Kansas will give him that job - he will be begging someone to get him a job as a position coach if he gets canned here.

This agent works for Tom Condon and Creative Arts Agency ... he has one really good friend in the media and called him last week to get a feel for Lew Perkins and Kansas ... well, all media folks talk amongst themselves, and that's when word started to trickle out.

Man, you really are a true believer.

That's it? Really? A feeler and the rest is all make believe. And here we are making up stories. Sweet. Well I like creative writing as much as the next guy.
