per this tweet: "@AdamHogeCBS: Bret Bielema just said he had some issues with Urban Meyer's recruiting and used word "illegal". Said he called Urban and worked it out."

Go Gophers!!

As tough as tOSU will make things for the Gophers now, I do love that Urban Meyer seems to have infuriated Bielema.

Poor Bert. Although I can't necessarily say Urban Meyer is squeaky clean (in fact, I feel very much the opposite), Bert is just coming off as whiny.

That Sounds Like

Bucky loses AGAIN on a last-minute (recruiting) Hail Mary? To a division rival, no less.

Thank you Sir, and may I have another!?!

I hear the strains of that ol' disco hit . . . "Burn, Baby, Burn"

It'll come back on you.

Just because the recruit liked Urban's 'Buckeye-Getter' girls better than the 'Badger-Getters' doesn't make it illegal, Bert. I'm sure Mark Richt can tell you the same tales of woe about the Gator-Getters.

Sounds like it is a good time to be a Buckeye fan....

Where is Jordan Diamond going to end up?

Don't want to really go there, but I wouldn't call Bielema a choir boy vis-a-vis Brewster so this is like the pot calling the kettle, if not black, gray. Looks like tOSU brought in a great class.

Bielema on Meyer's recruiting

Has anybody heard what recruiting tactics Meyer used?

Feb. 01, 2012 9:52 p.m. - by Tammy Madsen - Bielema questions Meyer's recruiting.

Coach Bret Bielema said he hopes Big Ten recruiting doesn’t change with the addition of Ohio State coach Urban Meyer. “I think the potential for change is there,” Bielema said. “There are a few things that happened early on that I made people aware of that I didn’t want to see in this league, that I had seen take place in other leagues -- other recruiting tactics [and] other recruiting practices that are illegal.”

I think there is some sort of unwritten rule that B1G coaches follow that says once a recruit verbals to a B1G school, the other B1G coaches back off. Urban apparently did not follow that unwritten rule.

Not a good idea to rile up Urban Meyer, he will be dominating the badgers in the very near future, mark it down.
Burty boy would be best served sticking to the plan Alvarez gave him when he was hired and hope to god Meyer gets in trouble before he can lay an annual 50 point win on bucky.

no way she gets up from getting hit from a 5-8lb melon at that speed. lucky if she didn't die.

Like a really, really, really good team and a really good coach in the Leaders Division.

I don't really care for Bielema (although I realize he's a good coach) and I don't know enough about Meyer one way or the other, but does this just come off as whining?

Oh, you mean kind of like what Bielema did with Zagzebski?

Tampa Bay Times Article

He said Meyer asked him: "You know what the difference between the Big Ten and our[SEC] conference is? I said, 'No', and he said, 'In the Big Ten, everybody tells on everybody. In our conference nobody tells on anybody.' "

You don't say. Meyer just proved the SEC actually cheats.

What a hypocritical tool. Perhaps he should recall HIS similar action with LB Conrad Zagzibinski (sp) a MN Verbal out of Wisko last year (or 2 yrs ago). Where were the ethical standards then?

Enjoy the demise Bert!

I don't think there is any such unwritten rule. Someone was speculating. In his presser he said 'illegal'. Probably an OSU assistant (new hire - not Vrabel or Fickell) crossed a line and he called Meyer about it.

I like to call him: Urban Lier.

Sorry if that has already been coined.

This was actually from the Amazing race from a couple seasons back. Not only did she get up right away, it seemed from the way CBS portrayed it there was almost no delay in their race. I'm sure the medical staff on-site checked her out and all, but it looks way worse than it actually ended up, fortunately.

And because of that, I can watch that .gif and laugh with a clean conscious lol

Thanks for the follow up! I am going to see if I can find the episode.

Bielema need a hug? He is just mad because Minnesota is now closed for business (thanks Coach Kill) and he has to put togather a whole new coaching staff. Bielema is just acting out.

BB calling out Urban is dumb but that's BB. He lost two top ol yesterday and said "they were never a lock we just had a schollie reserved for them" Ha, Mensa statement. Is the fax machine working? Losing 7 coaches over 2 years has consequences. That's why Kill's staff of longevity is so important for recruiting.

I knew about Zagzebski, but now that you mention it, I do recall both Nortman and Kelly committed to us as well. I think Bielema would be nuts to make a stink if his complaint is only about Ohio State swooping in and picking up Dodson.
