Okay, I'm interested to hear your reaction (especially from former collegiate athletes) to the following observations from the South Dakota game:

1. Down by 10 points to South Dakota in the second half, t.v. timeout, heavy beats start playing over the loudspeakers, offense is on the field in a semi-huddle, Duane Bennett and Marquise begin to "get their groove on", dancing in the huddle. I swear to God something is so wrong with this program.

2. Marquise is running routes so non-chalant, like he's high or something. He barely makes an effort for the ball (poorly placed pass) on the wide open streak pattern that would've gone for a T.D. Tremendous athlete, but is he too cool to give it everything he's got? Do these young men really care if they win or not? Do you think Marquise is "rebelling" in any way? Do they privately feel that their team is a joke? Don't get upset now, but regarding Weber and Gray could there be a black/white schism thing in play on the team? I ask this sincerely because we all know it happens from time to time on various teams.

3. What do you think about celebrating touchdowns or other good plays (especially on defense) when you are getting beat by South Dakota? These guys will "pose" after a defensive play, and then get burned for 40 yards on the very next play. What is the point? Are these young men delusional? Is there any humility or pride in these players? I'm 48 years old. When I was their age and in a similar situation, I would be embarrassed to celebrate anything until we had the lead and the final whistle blew. It's truly laughable. Where is the character? Where is the dogged focus and determination? I'm just blown away.

Gary "Hacksaw" Tinsley is a culprit of this crap as well, celebrating a tackle after a 15 yard gain. IIRC Kim Royston loves that crap too...when he actually plays. These guys need to act like they've been there before. Hoese scores a TD and he flips the ball to the ref. Learn from him.

Hmm...there is an emerging theme here....

Yeah, i love it when average D1 kids get jacked up about making a routine play against inferior teams. Do you think Northwestern does this kind of stuff? Does brew pump confidence into these kinds until they think they can just walk on the field and wins games? I think that's one of the main problems. Brew acts like half his team should be in the NFL, and it's rubbing off on these players. I remember seeing a Michael Carter interview where the interviewer talked about his every present confidence, where Michael agreed. He gets burnt by SDU receivers all day, but he probably still thinks he's god's greatest gift

The gall of that kid to break his leg! I'll never forgive him for that.

Always classy Art.

It's got nothing to do with his broken leg. He hasn't played this year yet but I recall him pimping tackles, giving the incomplete signal to the crowd even after a bad throw when he himself had nothing to do with the play. For a Sconny cast off he should be alittle more humble.

I didn't even notice Carter on the field vs. USD.

I don't recall any 'celebetory' actions after tackles this past week. Honestly, I don't. I don't know if it's because there was only 3 tackles all day or if I was too much shell-shocked.

But I agree.. When I made a play or TD, even school yard ball, I'd give the ball to the ref or other team and jog back to our sideline/huddle. There is plenty of time to celebrate after you win the game.

I saw Bennett and Gray dancing in the huddle this week and thought the same thing.

I call it the "Dwayne Rudd syndrome" (if you remember the Viking LB who grandstanded after making a tackle 20 yards down field)

Look many players celebrate after a solid play but this bunch talks trash and is pretty cocky for accomplishing squat.

There is no focus...these guys are here to showboat and believe brewster has sold them a ticket to the NFL. Watch the IA/Iowa State replay on BTN and you will see an enormous difference. One team's culture was strictly business, men at work, get it done. The other's was all show, look at me, children at play on the playground.

I'll never understand these types of threads. It's like people expect the players to hang their heads in shame after getting burned. The players that hang their heads are usually the first ones who get chewed out by the coaches. Football, like all sports, is a mental game. If players start getting down on themselves they may not be prepared for the next play that will take place in less than 40 seconds. You can't expect players to react like you would react.

For all we know, they're out there slapping hands saying "Don't let that sh*t happen again!"

Great points!!! Whatever they were doing, it sure worked well, didn't it?

I remember another time when people used to get mad about dancing.

Dear Gophers please dance in a way that doesn't offend our fan base:

What a joke take. It's so stupid when this thread pops up, and it does all the time.

So some guys got excited and were trying to pump up their teammates and the fans in a pretty miserable situation. Wow, what a sin.

The businesslike BS you claim you saw in the iowee game is clearly a bias, 18-22 year olds are not fricking robots, and guess what when the team is winning people actually like emotion and celebration, it gets the team, fans, stadium fired up.

They lost the game on Saturday, got destroyed and shamed in their home opener, but lets not try to pretend like the problem was a few guys dancing on the field after a tackle for loss.
Give me a break.

We all know where the season ends now barring a miracle run; with Brew leaving.
How the ride goes til then is going to be a difference between utter misery and simple disappointment with a new direction in the end. Hope for a better performance from here on out and try not to get so offended by stupid crap like this. Unless of course your just here to stir the pot and gorge yourself on negativity and misery of our loyal fans.

The point is obviously over your head! Do you dance at work or in front of clients?

Just need to quote this before you just realized the analogy you tried to make and delete it.

You mean like say the CEO of 3M busting a move in front of the shareholders while announcing a $4.00 per share loss and a suspension of the dividend?

Don't get upset now? What an insanely stupid comment that I can't believe no one has jumped on you for yet. You really think that MARQUIES is running crappy routes because he doesn't like that Adam Weber is white? Maybe it's because Gray has been a WR for two games. Schism with the team? Honestly, where did you pull that out of? Plus the whole "we all know it happens from time to time on various teams" thing, please elaborate on this because I have never heard of anything like this in any football locker room. I'll give you Remember the Titans, but please.

I thought he might be joking, so I let it go. It was insane if he meant it.

I apologize for quoting it and sending you into a hole of indefensible posts. I applaud your effort though. I just hope you aren't dancing in front of your monitor due to the quality of your posting.

the footloose post was hilarious. i'm totally embarrassed by the loss on saturday but at least the coyotes didn't take my sense of humour away like they did to some of you ninnies.

I thought he might be joking, so I let it go. It was insane if he meant it.

Yeah, I'll let it go if he was joking, but it seemed like there wasn't a lot of joking in his other observations, so I guess I don't know. Maybe he can clear it up?
