Both Polls are out

If we win out we probably challenge the 20th ranking that was Mason's highest if I recall correctly.

Where were we last week in the AP? I don't think we dropped too much.

We finished 17th in the AP twice: 1999 and 2003.

If we win out, I think we finish around 15-18th depending on who we beat in the bowl.

How is that even possible???

I think there is a sight that show how each person voted. Anyone know what it is?

How anyone could put a team that is 5-5 in the top 25 is beyond me. They should not be able to vote again.

Doesn't Bert vote in the coach's poll? If so, I wouldn't be surprised if he's the reason for the votes there. And I imagine that one person voted them #24 in the AP poll. But yeah, still inexcusable.

This is the reason that after the top ten for bowl purposes throw them in a hat.

Would MN beat Arkansas on a neutral field? Not sure I would pick us.

Virginia Tech beat tOSU and Duke
Northwestern beat Wisconsin and Notre Dame.

There is no rule for ranking teams with more losses over others.

Maybe Vegas should put out a poll.

Thank God these rankings don't matter anymore. He has TCU at #2, OSU at #3, Utah at #13 and worst of all, West Virginia at #18. No one else has West Virginia in their top 25.

Bowl games (played almost entirely in the South 6-8 weeks after the season ends) and polls used to be "just for fun". It is kind of crazy how they ended up being the basis for what everyone believes about the game. The CFP is beginning to disrupt that very faulty model.

#12 was the highest rank Mason ever got us, 1999... finished #17 in the Ap. Also started #22 in 2004...

I would think that if we win out we'd be higher than that, no? Would mean wins vs NE/WI on the road, beating (likely) OSU in the B1G CG, and then beating some team ranked in the top 15 in one of the automatic national bowls. With 2 of our 3 losses coming to top-ten caliber teams in OSU and TCU (with us splitting OSU on the season), I'd think we would be jockeying for a top 10-12 ranking to close out the season.

:) I'm sure you meant beat NE/WI, lose to OSU, with the bowl win varying in significance based on who we would play.
