Borton didn't miss on Dahlman

Borton is terrible. Whether Wagner is better than Dahlman is debatable but what isn't debatable is that Banham could have used some help. We have alot of talent in the state and will get to watch most of it leave and be successful somewhere else.
Agreed and I think this is how most people see it as well.

Correct and it's sad it's gotta be this way! maybe someday it will change?

Terrible?

Terrible? She has missed out on two recruits this year that were unconditionally considered top-notch. Over the years, she has done a MUCH better job than any previous coach at keeping the top players in MN. You even mention one in your own post. If you hold the coach accountable for the loss of Dahlman, you have to also give the coach props for keeping Banham in the fold.

If you back over Borton's tenure, she has gotten far more of the home-grown players than she has lost. Most coaches miss out on a player or two who chooses to go elsewhere. You can disagree with her coaching and player development but I think some are far to hard on Borton's overall recruiting.

Borton has recently (last 5 years) missed out on these MN kids...

Taylor Hill (Ohio State)- 20ppg, 1st Team All Big Ten
Camille Whalin (Iowa)- Leader of Iowa in their NCAA run in recent years, double digit scorer
Kate Thompson (Michigan)- Best 3 point shooter in Big Ten currently
Nia Coffey (Northwestern)- McDonalds AA
Apieu Ojulu (Marquette)- Starting center as freshman and Soph, double digit scorer, good rebounder
Becca Dahlman (Vanderbilt)- McDonalds AA
Cassie Rochel (Wisconsin)- Best shot blocker in big ten, anchor of Wisconsin
Jessica January (Depaul)- #73 recruit in 2013 class
Marissa Janning (Creighton)- Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Year

Sure she got Banham, and Buford... But this list is not acceptable at all!

The two DeLaSalle girls Johnson ( Iowa St ) and Starr ( Auburn ) would've looked good in maroon and gold.

Game day beat me too it and his list is a partial. I don't think she is a good coach nor do I think she has been a good recruiter for the most part. Minnesota is far from a barren state when it comes to ladies hoops. I understand that you are going to have your Taylor Hills who will go to the best school that offers. However when you hear things like Janning never receiving an offer, Angel Robinson not getting an offer until the end, and Borton just losing contact with recruits during the recruiting process. Even if you are all in on a player like Nia Coffey you still can't disappear on your other recruits.

I don't even want to get started on "her style" and the lack of development that has seen to have become a staple with her players.

Don't get me wrong I still go to games and cheer for them but it will be a huge travesty if a player like Banham leaves the U without the chance of ever playing in the tourney or competing for a B1G title.

Good response and there are more players you can add to the that last... Borton has run the program into the ground when Buford was a sophmore Borton kept saying we are recruting better athletes and they were close to getting the program straightened out. Well here it is years later and the still struggle.

Banham's talent is being wasted she is going to be a junior already and Borton is still spinning her wheels. Borton likes to recruit girls from Minnesota who are 5"11 slow and can only hit shots when they are wide open. I give Banham credit and too me it shows a lot about Banham's character to battle every night with little help. Riche is a nice player... the rest are real real inconsistent. The team is still no that athletic

Tubby can't build a champion with all MN kids but I think if Borton kept all of them home she could.
