I know what you're saying. I look at these lists, see Kentucky is getting everyone and get blown away! Man that guy can recruit. Has there ever been a better recruiter? Ever?

Yes.

John Wooden in the 1960's and 70's at UCLA.

I wonder if Calipari has an assistant as good as Wooden had.

You are most likely right about Wooden, but he didn't have to re-load the team each year like Cal does. Wooden got to keep them all four years. That's what blows me away about the Kentucky coach and his recruiting.

UK reloaded almost every year in 1970's and 80's under Joe Hall and Eddie Sutton, too.

Of course, they had 3 NCAA major infractions (1976, 1988, and 1989) as a result of reloading back then.

It's Kentucky for crying out loud. The name "Kentucky" recruits itself.

He's running the NBA halfway house. Although I love the way Cal's teams run and a lot of kids love it too.

UK has signed "Top 5" (or better) rated recruiting classes in 1966, 1968, 1971, 1974, 1976, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1987, 1988, 1992, 1995, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2009, 2010, and 2011.

Many years it does. I only started following UK in 1966 so in those 45 years, Cats have signed 21 classes rated "Top 5" or better.

It cant be that hard to recruit to Kentucky.

Calipari cheats when he recruits. He will leave Kentucky in a couple years once he sense the NCAA closing in on him. He did it to UMASS and Memphis.. Kentucky = next victim

If he does leave Kentucky that would be interesting. You can at least argue he's moved up with each transition thus far, hard to do that now.

Look for articles on "World Wide Wes", and see how recruiting works for Calipari these days.

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that someone who wanted Anthony Davis to go to Kentucky paid Davis/his family $200K to secure his commitment to Kentucky. The story was never retracted. Anthony Davis Sr. promised a lawsuit against the Sun-Times "next week" way back in Summer of 2010, but to date has failed to deliver on that lawsuit.

Man, look at the class that St. John's has. Depaul has to be kicking themselves for passing over Lavin. He seemed to be the #1 choice for most of their fans.

Regardless the story was false.

Calipari has street agents running for him and that is why he recruits so well. Add the Kentucky name and that the players like his style and it is not that difficult.

Someone gets paid handsomely for the players he gets. It may not be him directly, but it is pretty obvious. He also does not have to know exactly how it goes down so he can deny anything that comes out, but the bottom line is that there is no motivation for anyone to say anything because then the golden goose is killed. As long as there is a Calipari and others in the game that allows this stuff to happen, it will happen.

It is not real hard to figure out. He brought the same types of players to UMASS and Memphis, there is no reason it would not work at Kentucky. There are certain players that are associated with certain people that you are not going to get period, if you do not play the game. Simple as that.

Regardless the story was false.

It hasn't been proven false in any way whatsoever. Mr. Davis' empty threats of a lawsuit show exactly what the type of person he is. As far as I'm concerned, somebody paid $200K to get Anthony Davis to play for Kentucky.

You can't PROVE a negative. No one has proven it is/was true. That's because it's false.

And Sandy Bell never would've let Cal try to get Enes Kanter eligible even though he had accepted over $30K of impermissible benefits.

I spoke with her in Columbia SC a couple of weeks ago. She called the NCAA ruling on Kanter the worst she has ever seen in all her years in collegiate athletics.

If you had been there, you could have asked her yourself.
