A Wesley Washington young Mr. Hoffarber is not. ... and for that I am grateful.

Congratulations to Blake for both his on and off-court accomplishments.
 


Also worth mentioning that he deserve more credit than some guys on that list because he has a "real major" with his Finance degree. Recreation and Leisure studies is not a real major *cough* Trevor *cough*.

Physical Therapy and Sports Science is not the same as "sports studies." Physical Therapists with an emphasis in sports science tend to be your athletic trainers and sports injury rehab specialists. A much tougher degree than finance... and more labs too. Also, PT is generally a 5 or 6 year program--for non-division I athletes.

I don't know what you're talking about, but I'm talking about the kid whose major is listed as "Sport Studies."

Are you actually serious Drex? I usually can sense sarcasm...but Physical Therapy is a just a tad different than Finance @ the Carlson School...

No, SGL I'm completely serious. Unless you are suggesting that particular university has a crappy PT program.

It's a relatively recent phenomenon that the more challenging aspects of Physical Therapy are now considered graduate-level degree coursework at some institutions (like pharmacy), but for a D-I student-athlete, the strict rotation of labs and required internship/clinical rotations meshed with the travel, practice and game schedule is enough to derail most student-athletes in a science-based curriculum.

The Finance curriculum is not that inflexible nor challenging, it just isn't. Getting in the CSoM is the most challenging part and that's a numbers game. If you have a high math aptitude and a good tutor, that is a very doable major for most students. The CSoM marketing department is making its money though, because it has that "Carlson School" aura ingrained in too many people's psyche.
 





Looks like a higher percentage of white players make it on that list than black players.

Um, Physical Therapy is basically a medical profession, and PT graduate students are cutting up cadavers, learning anatomy and biology thoroughly, and doing medical-based research projects. Sure, PT and Finance are quite different, but if anything, PT is probably more difficult than finance.
 

I don't even see how PT and Finance are comparable, at least not in a "this one is much harder" way. Not everyone has the same aptitudes. There is no way you can say that one is harder than the other.

Everyone has different strengths and views, and frankly, it's a little ridiculous to try to compare two majors like that. What's easy to you is not easy to others, and vice-versa. You make the comment about CSOM aura, but it sounds like you have the opposite thing going on, which is fine. But you can't just make some sweeping statement about the difficulty of majors because that's like saying "pizza is the most tasty food" or something. It varies by the individual.

Either way, congrats Blake! Way to represent the U.
 

Where did this physical therapy talk come from? I thought the major of one if the athletes was sports studies?

A 6-3 senior guard, Reed has helped #2 Kansas post a 25-2 record this season. A Pre-Physical Therapy and Exercise Science major with a 3.65 G.P.A.

This is the only student who comes close to the combo described above. Don't see any of the other Academic All-American's who major in "Sport Studies" and/or have gpa listed as "3.65."

Can you be more specific rcpratt? Then I'll stand corrected.
 

I don't know how this could POSSIBLY be more specific. I'm talking about the kid from Central Michigan whose major is SPORT STUDIES, like I said twice. Jalin Thomas.
