Black Monday NFL coaching firing thread

The Eagles fired Andy Reid and their franchise eventually found their way to a Super Bowl Trophy before he did.

Also, it worked for Tampa Bay when they fired Tony Dungy, as was mentioned on yesterday's Dan Patrick Show.
It's also worth noting that Terry Pegula has overseen the worst franchise in the NHL for 15 years now. He may be a brilliant business man but there's plenty to question about his ownership decisions.

Sounds like Klint Kubiak is a large betting favorite to be the next Vegas HC.

Mike McDaniel off the table it appears, for either OC or HC for those that are looking....

I’m sure a denizen on a FREE message board would do much better🤠; I seriously doubt I would champ 🥳, as I’m just an average Jos like the vast majority of the populace🥸

i mean tbh, these guys are just picking one based off a hobby most of the time. it's not like they know the intricacies of player evaluation or probably have much of an idea of scouting. They'll know if the business plan makes sense if that's what its about

Based on what he said today, it sure seems like he talked to Beane and they decided to move on from McDermott based on how the locker room looked after the Denver game (because Josh Allen was crying) and that he certainly seems to be hyping Beane (for getting into a spot to draft Allen, who needed a hell of a lot of development) while dumping on the coaching staff (Coleman comments). That sure seems like a rash decision based on emotion and feel and he thinks they drafted pretty well but coached poorly.

The guy is dealing with family health issues and I'm sure is not as involved in the day to day as he wants. But all these guys are human and I think you'd be surprised how many armchair QBs would do just as good a job as these guys given its really just hiring the right people rather than anything special they're doing

think it will be very interesting to see who they bring in there. Feel like you can't really go Brady if you're citing the locker room visual as the issue. Sometimes the new voice works out. Their defense was pretty hurt this year, so maybe those holes fill back in with guys getting healthy, but that roster relies on Allen being superhuman too often to win.

The media jackals are already firing up their columns with AJ Brown and Justin Jefferson trade rumors.

There was plenty of speculation that McDermott was still coaching for his job this past Saturday.

They way he handled the end of the 1st half against the Broncos could have been the final straw.

The interview with pegula is interesting. Sure doesn’t sound like it based on what Pegula said

Appreciate your thoughts, but sports is simply entertainment and an occasional diversion in my life; I’m not super serious about it anymore, other than when I start waxing poetic (I think) about baseball.

Being one candle short of 60 with chronic illnesses, means I don’t really care if I’m right or wrong at this juncture. Just wanna be as happy, peaceful and healthy as possible😀.

I was trolling @Gophers1992 cause he seems like a good dude and I’m still a juvenile at heart.

You're a good dude too - and you're not wrong about me being an average Joe middle class idiot spewing thoughts on a message board.

I never used the word idiot - maybe you need to try some self-love and not the kind you discovered watching Baywatch😉

With so many openings, I'm a little worried about how poorly the Cardinals job is perceived these days. In a game of musical chairs, the Cardinals could be left with scraps to choose from. I'm not worried at all about how the Raiders job is perceived. They'll be fine

As a fan, I'd be most interested in Minter and Shula out of that list of candidates. I'd be surprised if they both don't land a HC gig in this cycle. I'll go with:

Minter to LV
Shula to BAL
So much for that. Shula to LV now? What say you, Ogie?

I really have no clue at all. Still hoping for someone like Joe Brady. The only person I know of that has had a 2nd interview with the Raiders (other than Minter) is Carolina DC Ejiro Evero. He had some steam behind his name a year or two ago, maybe not that much last year (I forget?) and now he's a popular name.

I'm putting a lot of faith in the fact that not only does Brady know a lot about football and he's clearly deeply involved in the process, but it's important to not underestimate the benefit he has had of being in the building for several days for all these teams where he has called NFL games. There is a ridiculous amount of knowledge to be gained in those production meetings, talking to position coaches, talking to players, etc.

People can bitch about Brady all they want, but there's no way I think his involvement is a BAD thing for the Silver and Black.

Interesting DC pickup for the Cowboys, grabbing a key position coach from the Eagles under Vic Fangio.

I don't think anyone has claimed otherwise about how it impacts the Raiders.

The bitching is that it's any unfair intel advantage that Brady has being involved with all the other production meetings for potentially the other 31 NFL Teams that the Raiders compete with.

Aikman also being involved with the Dolphins is also a slippery slope.

Maybe it's just locally or with the Raiders fan chatter I hear, or just haters, but I've heard plenty about "just because he was a great QB doesn't mean he knows shit about running a football team".

Saleh off the board, officially. Another job opening filled

Ok, thanks for the clarification.

From that aspect, it will be determined as to how it plays out (Capt Obvious).

I would lean towards Brady at least improving the Raiders plight. Not a high bar to attain, going on 2 decades without a Playoff victory.

Cold like this reminds me of rubechat and the dude telling us whe. It gets this cold the wood stove will cranking 24 hrs a day so get your baking ready. Then I would mention the curse of hat itch.

I should add one thing to bear in mind, there are plenty of lifelong Raiders fans who absolutely LOATHE Brady, primarily for the "tuck rule" playoff game. I've no doubt that is adding to their angst and bitching as well.

NFL didn't want an AFC East retread for the champ game, if they could do anything about it. (They could)

Yeah that tracks.

I am sure the NFL wanted 75% of their remaining teams in contention for the Super Bowl to be from the Rocky Mountains or even further west.

I'm positive they also wanted perhaps their most recognizable star (Josh Allen) who was not an already eliminated Chief, go home prior to the Conference Championship weekend.

Total sense.

And another domino falls, although I thought this one was mostly sewn up before now. Minter to the Ravens.

An updated list on the openings and hirings up to this point.

There are still some good/great candidates on the market, some coaching this weekend still. Some of the remaining teams still have quality candidates left.

That being said, I hate how the Cardinals job is generally perceived, since Bidwill is well known to be such a cheap f*cker and for the most part has shit facilities in PHX and Glendale, although State Farm Stadium is still a great stadium.

Any buzz on McDermott and where he could end up?
