A potpourri of comments for a potpourri of comments I have read.
Coach O'Brien did an excellent job this year.
They have 2 selling points. However, 10 fewer kids each year (40 total) will not be lending their ears to those selling points and that has an effect on team depth.
USC comparisons referenced earlier: Their problems stem more from the fact Pat Hayden seems to love Lane Kiffin, a coach who gets so little out of his talent and speed. As long as his ego wears headphones, they will continue to underperform regardless of the # of scholarships. 4 and 5 stars are the norm there and talent is brought in every year.
I think that ribbon-decal thing "honoring" the PSU player (Mauti) went beyond his having a knee injury from what I have read. I think it was more symbolic of his leadership he provided during a difficult time for the PSU players. Don't necessarily agree or disagree with it.
O'Brien won't leave this year, in my opinion. Also, one needs to keep in mind his contract calls for him to pay the school $9.2 million over four years if he leaves. May be an interesting side-story to follow down the road though.
I don't foresee the NCAA lifting sanctions on the University given the circumstances.
If you don't believe what the BandanaGuy has to say about the PSU cover-up, that is your choice. However, if you don't believe that football and the culture of football was the reason for the cover-up, then I have some "Magic Beans" to sell you.
Schnauzer, I am sorry you missed your place on the internet. I'm sure these ramblings didn't help that either.
