Biggest concern for the upcoming season?

Defense. Three and outs. Field position. We have to have a solid defense, because defense wins games. The offense has shown the abiity to play from behind, play with the lead. But if we cannot stop anyone, all talk of offense is useless.

Yep!

That's about it.

Somehow Kill has to improve in just about all BIG defense categories if we have any hope of moving up the food chain. Its a no brainer to realize that we need to improve the kicking game and offense but its the defense that is the most cruical.

What good does it do if we somehow manage score 30 this year and give up 34 like we averaged last year in the BIG?

My biggest concern is which phase will look more competent this year, the defense or the special teams. Neither have been very good for a long time and that has to change. Can we make big plays in either phase?

" Biggest concern for the upcoming season?"

Will the beer tent be big enough?

The lack of a single skill position offensive player without either an empty resume or an injury problem.
Hopefully a few guys can step up.

Other than that it's depth across the board.

Mr. Bob

I see your point but it isnt really that good. Why? Because Gray makes up a ratio of the offense that is significantly higher than the other QBs in the B1G. I also wasnt picking on MN and you are correct in that most if not all teams would be significantly worse if they lost their starting QB but I suggest they would find a way to win a few games in conf play. Im suggesting that without Gray the gophers would be in a rather dire situation. Is the defense going to keep them in the games? Does coach Kill have the skills to win a game on play calling without Gray? Ive seen a lot of situations over the years where struggling teams have a man among boys like Gray is and they laser in on them, eventually they end up nicked up. Here's to Gray staying healthy and leading the gophers to a bowl game......ok?

Is the defense going to keep them in games? Yes Does coach Kill have the skills to win a game on play calling without Gray? Limegrover calls the plays, Kill calls onside kicks when Iowa has no clue, and yes This team will be better and play faster. This team will be better at every position with maybe the exception of linebacker and one corner. You will see quite an improvement from last year. Remember, they went 2-3 over their last 5 games and only lost to Michigan State by a touchdown on the road. Coach Kill builds TEAMS.

Just thought I would revisit this one during the down time before our bowl game.
