Big Ten Tournament cancelled

Should they have a very abbreviated version of the NCAA Championship, something like only 8 teams qualifying? It'd be really easy to verify that everyone on those 8 teams is virus free and to quarantine them from the rest of the world during the limited tournament.
You can certainly reassess things in April. Or maybe even May.

I have a feeling that once things calm down, athletes are going to be clamoring to have some kind of resolution/continuation to all these cancelled/suspended/paused seasons.

NBA owners asking for things to be reassessed in a month. Etc

It will all unfreeze, for the pros.

Hope the NCAA might be flexible.

NCAA is at a major disadvantage because of the school year eventually ending. You're not going to resume the basketball season in May. NBA season would still have scheduled games around then.

Why can't do May?

But why not? Baseball plays well into the summer.

Well, for starters, TV rights would be messy. Not playing or practicing for 4-8 weeks could make it really shitty. Good teams will have multiple people preparing for the draft.

Stadium/arena availability also an issue potentially.

Are the Gophers conference tournament champions? They had the highest seed of any team that won in the tournament? Therefore, the Gophers qualified for the NCAA tournament if it gets played.

Indiana had a higher seed than the gophers.

also, those are when games are scheduled. That is why baseball plays in May
You are probably correct.

Still think at least spring sports could reasonably resume play in May, with practices resuming in April at some point (NCAA tweet says they will reevaluate on Apr 6 whether to extend the ban on team activities).
