Don't know if it has been talked about recently but with the bowl announcements coming up I thought I would mention it. I think the talking heads always ignore the fact the the Big Ten is usually in the visitor role in bowl games. That is a big disadvantage to the Big 10. Home field advantage is huge in college football.

Just wait until there's a bowl game in the Vikings stadium.

Well, since most bowls are in warm, destination climates and the Big Ten Schools are mostly in cold weather climates, it makes sense. Been that way forever. I dont think a bowl game in Ohio or Wisconsin would be much of a travel motivator.

The talking heads literally talk about it every year. I also think it's overplayed. I've been to a number of bowl games and the atmosphere is not nearly as intimidating as a true road game.

Ya bowl games are rarely sold out. The people who attend are not usually the die hard fans, and the crowd is usually split 30-70 at worst. If you are traveling to a bowl game for the gameday atmosphere, you're going to be disappointed unless it's a committee bowl.

I guess I don't remember them offering it up as an excuse. I just recall them trashing the Big Ten's record in bowl games. I don't know if it is still that way but it seems like our lower level teams were going up against higher placing teams from other conferences. Can't help it ... I'm a big ten homer like most of you. I even root for Iowa and Wis. in bowl games because they are representing the Big Ten.

The B1G gets trashed because the B1G is trash. We look for other excuses to placate ourselves.

The Big 10 isn't great, but it certainly isn't trash. If it is, then 40% of the top conferences in college football are trash. At the very least, the ACC and Big 10 are about the same (although I'd give the Big 10 a slight edge right now).

If they go to an 8-team playoff, I want the first round to be at the top seed's home stadium. Then we don't have to worry as much about the argument of the bowl games all being in the south. Plus it makes it pretty important to get a top seed.

Cut him some slack. He's still pissed about the B1G Championship Game last night.

Agree 100%

Agree. I always root for Big Ten teams in the bowls. I'm nearly always disappointed, though.
