Big Ten QB Power Rankings: Post-spring tiers for every B1G QB room (Very worrisome: Minnesota (Drake Lindsey))

MN, PU, MD: very worrisome; Reasoning unproven starter with minimal attempts.

OSU: really good; reasoning, well they haven't played at all but it'll probably be fine

Underwood has also taken zero college snaps and was real meh in their spring game. 11/25 for 99 yards and a pick plus 3 sacks outside of a double reverse flea flicker TD pass to end the game on a play he probably would've gotten drilled on in real action.

just be consistent if you're going to try claim you're doing any analysis.
I have a lot of faith in Lindsey, the staff seems super high on him, he seemed to be being out experienced people, and I just don't think PJ wouldn't look for a portal starter if PJ didn't think he was going to be good.

All of that said, if I'm betting money, the OSU QB - whoever it will be - will likely be one of the best three QBs in the Big 10.

For Michigan, I think that is likely still a major question mark.

For a century, teams used the next man up method for quarterbacks. Starter graduates, person in the system gets his shot. Just because AK failed to succeed in his attempt does not mean that DL will fail to succeed. It only means we don't know and we hope for success. Will he be as good as his predecessor? It's unknown. That's the beauty of college football.
Before the portal, our "next man up" this season would be the best QB between Kaliakmanis, Knuth, Viotto or Lindsay. It's a different world now in that Lindsay's path is less earned (in theory).

So are they saying that if we were some major program, we would've brought in a stud transfer QB through the portal, and since we did not do that, therefore we are [bad X,Y,Z]?

He assumedly beat out Wittke and Pyron, 2 QBs with (limited) big conference starting experience

Yeah, that's what I meant by in theory, you could make an argument there is less of a direct path. Those two guys were beat out at previous stops.

I think the biggest sign that Lindsey essentially "won" the job is that the staff didn't bring in real competition like a Brosmer type.

Big Ten projected starting quarterbacks ranked following spring football

17. Drake Lindsey — Minnesota Golden Gophers

Career Stats: 3 games, 50 yards, 1 TD, 0 INT

Previous QB Ranking: Unranked

Analysis: Max Brosmer was a very solid player for Minnesota in 2024, but it will be Drake Lindsey's time to take over this year, and there are some understandable questions about how well he can fill in. With very little production in limited opportunities, it feels as if Lindsey has an "incomplete" tag on his name at this point. You can trust in PJ Fleck to get this team where it needs to be, but until we see what Lindsey can do on the field, I've got him near the bottom of my rankings.

Go Gophers!!

This is a fair review. Trust in PJ but no data to say he can or cannot compete at this level. I get 4 and 5 star QB's get benefit of doubt but typically people have seen them against top end talent to get the 4 and 5 star. Lindsay has a lot to prove. As Gophers fan we know 3 weeks in he easily could be a top 5 in conference QB. We will see.

Dylan Raiola at 3=Underperformed as a true freshman, but he was the top QB in his HS class so that's what matters.
