Big Ten has Canceled All Athletics for Rest of School Year

My man, if you don't have that bad boy on your DVR in all its 3:20 glory with a blue "Keep" button next to its name, may God have mercy on your soul.
Roger that. DVR fully secured. That game and PSU will probably never leave. Still have the GT game and Wisky victories too.

As an aside I actually own one of the last VHS-DVD player-recorders produced, including analog to digital signal conversion with HDMI capability. Although I've not done it yet I think there's a way to input my cable/DVR signal such that I can record content to a DVD. Seeing that I may have more time on my hands soon this might be a good project.

Do you have the 11/26/2016 gopher badger game. We lost 31-17 cuz we gave up 21 pets in the fourth quarter. Leidballs

It seems HIGHLY unlikely it wouldn't reach it's peak / exposure to most people long before football season.

The current measures are only intended to slow it.

On a promising note, data and statistics indicate the virus is waning in China, so hopefully by sometime this summer we have a clearer picture and things are waning here too.*

* I am not a doctor, but I did play an undercover policeman posing as a doctor in a high school theater production a very, very long time ago.

It's also possible it runs through the US faster considering we're not walling off whole areas.

Granted that's all a lot of assumptions as I"m skeptical of the data from China and internally even China has had a LONG history with local government giving their central government bad data and the central government not wanting to share what they even have....

China's ultra lockdown after the cat is out of the bag methods might prove to be unhelpful.

Still, as I posed there, even if “only” 1/3 of our population gets infected, and the overall death rate is “only” 0.1%, that’s 110k dead.
Where did you get the .1% figure?

It was hypothetical, for the sake of discussion -- most reports have COVID-19 with an overall death rate much higher than that.

It’s impossible to know unless everyone who should be tested gets tested, and we all know that is not happening. I know if I get sick and call my doctor, they will most likely advise me to stay home, unless I’m having severe symptoms. In other words, if I have the virus, I won’t be included in the statistics. In addition, there are reportedly a significant number of people who contract the virus without having symptoms.

I understand and agree that is a valid point.

I don’t think it is impossible that the overall death rate could be lower than single digit percents. But I think 0.1% is pretty close to the flu already? I think that is 50-100k attributes deaths in the US per year already. So my hypothetical number was 110k. Not sure what else to say, for now. Wait and see like everyone else

Would summer practices be allowed you think? Maybe we could have the spring game in summer

This virus won’t be going away until one of two things happens:
1) everyone (who leaves their home ever) has been infected, and either dies or gains immunity the old fashioned way
2) a safe, effective vaccine is widespread distributed to the population

And 2) might not even happen by the end of this calendar year, when it’s all said and done.

Nature's revenge on humankind. We are going to go thru the Middle/Dark Ages all over again?

Will there be a Natural Selection on a grand scale?

The world population is somewhere around 7.8 billion.

How many people, cattles, pigs, etc... can the planet sustain?

We don't want anything to mess with Gopher Football in a century when they win national titles regularly.

One of the “experts” just said we likely have 5-10K actual cases, but how in the hell would they know? Didn’t some health official from Ohio claim they likely have 100K+, just in their state? I’ll bet the truth is somewhere in between.

There are a few Gopher Football games on YouTube that we can watch.

Even your death will be “Made in China”. I’d rather just get it. If I die I die if I live sweet. Everyone is panicking like this is Armageddon. Maybe one of the plagues from the Bible.

Yeah, due to the lack of tests we will have no clue what the actual number is but there are almost certainly way more cases then what are known. Meaning the death rate is going to be a lot lower than the percentages they can come up with based on known cases.

Going to get a lot worse here still before it starts getting better but eventually we will come out on the other side and life will get back to normal.

If I die I die if I live sweet.
Except, no.

If you develop severe pneumonia, you could have chronic lung disease for the rest of your life.

AND there is the possibility with this virus that just because you had it an recovered, you may not be immune from a second infection, with symptoms being much worse than the first time.

you are now the official overreact guy. yer gopher opinions are now and forever moot.

As of yesterday, 2336 have been tested in the state, and 60 have tested positive for coronavirus. That’s 2.6%. Assuming they’re mostly testing people who have symptoms, there are a lot of people sick with something else. There have been no reported deaths in the state so far.
