Big Ten details 24-team CFP plan with no league title games

Add to that the recovery time for football players. They need at least 4 or 5 days for physical recovery which makes multiple games in a week impossible. I threw out 32 teams if they are going to go beyond the current 12 simply because I abhor byes, but 32 would stretch the season out further into January and we don't want the players to miss class (I'm joking). Go to 16 games and keep the conference championships.
Exactly.

I think the idea is that when you see Ohio State putting up 28 against Purdue in the first quarter, there are other games you can switch to. When it's the playoff and Ohio State is up 28-0 in the first quarter, it's the only college football game available.
If they go to 24, the first week-end would likely be 2 games on Thursday and Friday along with 4 on Saturday. Probably something like one at 7 EST and one at 9 EST. So they wouldn't be completely exclusive windows. You could put the 17/24 and 16/23 games that the Tulane's of the world would be involved in those early windows. By the time it's a blow-out the other game is about to start. Same thing would hold in the round of 16. You would put 1/16 and 2/15 in those early games.

I feel like something like this was always inevitable when teams like Texas, Oklahoma, USC, and Oregon willingly moved in to much tougher conferences. That either was going to push some of them down in the pecking order or push others (Penn State, Tennessee, etc) down because of their presence. That was never going to be acceptable. If it does go to 24, I'd like to see something guaranteeing the Big Ten and SEC a minimum of 8 slots each.

Might as well play year round? When it gets so diluted, there is no taste, no desire to watch.
Exactly. Come January and I'm back at work, I'm interested in the Gophers offseason and how they might do in the portal. I have zero interest in seeing how other teams finish out a season that I've already considered over with.

Good point that I didn't consider. However, if the games would be broadcast on different networks, I'd think each network would want exclusivity. If it was something like one game is on espn and the other is on abc, I'm not sure they would pay all that money to compete with themselves.

Honestly I’m out on conference title games

Zero upside only downside
And if it’s a repeat it’s even dumber

Ohio state and Indiana could’ve easily been co champs as 1-2
Especially with the bolded, I would HATE to see Michigan and tOSU in "the game" knowing that they'll be playing next week as well and that's the one that matters more.
