Gov. Pete Ricketts said Thursday he supports the position of Carter and Green that the university should stay in the Big Ten.

"I support them a hundred percent," Ricketts said. "The Big Ten has been great for the University of Nebraska,
and obviously there's a lot of considerations that go into this.


Yep. About 50 million considerations, per year.

That's quite easily what it boils down to. Also that the faculty overwhelmingly prefer to be associated to the much, much, much stronger academic brand of the Big Ten.
 

It feels like a simpler response because it’s Nebraska. We can all imagine the Big Ten without them.

What if Ohio State, Michigan, or even an OG like Minnesota or Purdue had threatened this?

Would they really boot Ohio State over a barnstorming fall season?
No, those schools respect the conference and know that any one school is not above the conference. The strength and marketing power is in the accumulation of all the schools. Texas learned that...
