Big Ten Changing Division Names?

East/West or North/South is clearly the best IMHO. Or if you're really concerned about "geographical accuracy" then do Northwest/Southeast. Yes, I realize that isn't still 100% geographical, but does it really matter than WI is a little bit more north than NW?

I think Black & Blue are OK, but you have then have the problem of the division names matching some team color names.

in fairness to the legend/leaders decision, i have yet to see two names that i like/make sense.

Have a naming contest with voting & rounds. That way you can clam the winning names have majority support. Do it through big ten network.

I'd be ok with east west. Who cares if Michigan is east of some schools for heavens sake the song says 'champions of the west'!

I have the answer:

Since directional names don't work exactly an no one has come up with any other decent names, let's get with it and do it the American way=make money=corporate sponsor.

Nike Division
Adidas Division

=$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

I didn't hate the Legends and Leaders names, but wasn't excited about them. I like Lakes and Plains more so.. Blue and White even greater yet.

Not a fan of the directional names. Rather have Legends and Leaders than directionals.

This is the best suggestion I've heard:

The Big Ten has only had 4 commissioners, and one's still serving. Two died in office. How 'bout the John L. Griffith division, and the William R. Reed division?

The divisional trophies could be named after the Commissioners. It sounds kind of hockeyesque, doesn't it?

"The one with Michigan" and "The one with Ohio State".

How about something like Heatland, Glacier or Agassiz
