Big Ten Changing Division Names?

90% disapproval is pretty amazing. Comparing that to our poll last week, more Gopher fans would rather see the Badgers win the Rose Bowl than approve of these names. Ha!
 

Haha wow if this is true then the Big 10 must be standing there with their jaw open while scratching their heads. What did they expect the fans/alums of the Big 10 to think?
 

Black and Blue Divisions are my favorite.

True. My favorite part is where Delaney says that maybe people were upset because they asked them for input and, I'm speculating here, nobody suggested "Legends and Leaders"?:banghead:
 


I don't mind the Legends name but Leaders just doesn't work. I do commend them for trying something other than East/West.

Personally I would change the conference name to the Big North, keep the Legends name for one division and come up with something else for the other one.
 

Blue and White work, using the Big Ten's colors. Many people like Plains and Lakes, I do not. Only one Big Ten state (Nebraska) is a Great Plains state, and only two (Nebraska and Iowa) do not border a Great Lake. Putting Michigan in the Plains division is absurd as they have an insane amount of Lake Superior shoreline. But putting them in the Lakes division puts Nebraska and Iowa in the Lakes Division, which is equally absurd.

Hey, I think I have it. Name the divisions after Great Lakes themselves. Our division can be the Superior Division, and the other one can be the Erie Division. It's not perfect, but none of these are.
 



I would think that the BT doing a poll of fans of the names would have been in order even though the word would have been out there. Now its rather an embarassment to the BT.

Somebody mentioned the Rust Belt and the Grain Belt. I like that but Minnesota would probably nix that one.

Or just keep it simple and use Blue and White.
 

Grain Belt and Rust Belt are pretty good, they would be better if the Michigan schools were in the same division as Ohio State. I think people might object because of Grain Belt beer.

East and West. It's really not that complicated.

I like it. And it would actually fit. Clearly the 'West' would be 'Dairy'...although that would mean Wisonsin would not be in Dairy. Ugh. That can't work.

I'd go with North as South just because it would be less geographically inaccurate. East and West do seem better somehow because of the larger width of the conference though.

Shirts and skins?

Blue and white is good enough, or East and West, or North and South will work. As long as we don't get called a directional school, I really don't care. Then again, maybe we should form another committee and spend some money:rolleyes:

Name them after the reigning division champions in Football. They could change every year, but it would be cool to boast you are in my GOLD Division!
