Big Ten Announces Post Season Tourney

Fewer home matches. More exposure for the haves.

Terrible idea. Just when other conferences have finally done away or are doing away with theirs. I have no idea what they are trying to accomplish, but how could I, given the lack of details?

I think the success of A&M and Kentucky in last years tournament showed that a conference tournament does have some advantages. I don’t like that we will lose 1-2 home games a year

Trying to figure this out.

Seeds 10-15 play in first round and winners play
Seeds 5-7 in 2nd round
Seeds 8-9 also meet in the 2nd round
Seeds 1-4 play those 4 winners in the 3rd round
Semi-finals
Finals

So, potentially although unlikely, a 10-15 seed could play FIVE matches in this tournament. And 3 schools get to sit the whole thing out. That's really good for those programs ...

MEANWHILE, you now only play each school once during the regular season, never mind how even more messed up the HCA becomes.

Also meanwhile, the tournament takes place Thanksgiving week with semifinals on a Tuesday and championship on a Wednesday. That'll pack in the fans. There in Fishers, Indiana. Look it up. There's a Vicious Biscuit nearby.

Not only do you lose 1-2 home matches, if you lose your first match, you lose two matches entirely. Better than losing three, but geez.

Hey! I have a great idea to promote our sport! How about we offer fewer chances to watch it?

I'm kind of looking forward to it. The smoking hot trophy wife and I are planning to get tickets. Should be a lot of really good volleyball played.

Just as long as it's YOUR smoking hot trophy wife and not mine. Because that would be mean.

I'm sure your wife hears enough volleyball blah blah blah from you. She wouldn't want to hear me drone on about it too.
