The big ten will be having helmets only practice until further notice. No full gear practice

“Until further notice” could mean anything. They could lift that restriction next week...or never.

Correct and literally the definition of indefinitely
That reminds me of a baseball announcer who, when describing an injured player, said, "He could be out indefinitely, maybe longer."

Bob Uecker? Sounds like something Yogi Bera would say...

Today, I bought a treadmill. Of course, I wore a mask into the store, and when I tried out the various treadmills, since it’s mandated. I was shocked how much more difficult it was to run with a mask on, and these guys are practicing with masks! I’m sure this being brought up all over. Playing football with a mask is not a viable option. I don’t care how well conditioned they are.

I see people out exercising with masks on every day. Running, biking, etc. It's doable.

The BIG ADs are simply hoping against hope that as one prominent person likes to fantasize 'the virus it will just go away'.
MAC did the correct thing.

Just another step on the slow march towards no season. I wish they'd just rip off the band aid for us.

Put a mask on, go out for a run, and get back to me.
But I'm not a student athlete am I? I currently can't really go on a run without a mask, so I'm not exactly the best example am I?

I'm not saying it's not harder, it certainly is, but for athletes at the peak of physical fitness it's likely doable. If some joe-shmoe who runs for fun can do it, in sure student athletes can.

The helmets looked great anyway...

I did it. I felt the difference after about a minute, and I’m in decent shape. I wasn’t exactly exerting the amount of energy they were in the practice video. I’m sure they noticed the difference too. They may be able to do light drills and walkthroughs. Full practice and/or games? No way. It reduces your ability to breathe by quite a bit.

so this was in the Detroit Free Press earlier today (Saturday).

Big Ten presidents are expected to meet Saturday afternoon to discuss the future of the conference’s fall sports seasons, two people with direct knowledge of the situation told the Detroit Free Press.

And it’s possible a spring football season could be on the table.

The two people were briefed about the meeting but spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly. The Big Ten confirmed the presidents had a regularly scheduled meeting Saturday, but according to the two people who spoke to the Detroit Free Press, the topic of the conversation has shifted to the college football season. The Free Press is part of the USA TODAY Network.

Going into the meeting, the two people were told Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren preferred a spring football season, although no decision has been made.

This reminds me of a Berraism that I heard the great Vin Skully utter. I believe he was talking about Vince Coleman and said something to the effect of "though he has a low on base percentage, he seems to find a way to get on base." I thought my head was going to explode trying to wrap my brain around that one.

More from ESPN - from Sunday--

Commissioners of the Power 5 conferences held an emergency meeting on Sunday, as there is growing concern among college athletics officials that the upcoming football season and other fall sports can't be played because of the coronavirus pandemic, sources told ESPN.

Several sources have indicated to ESPN that Big Ten presidents, following a meeting on Saturday, are ready to pull the plug on its fall sports season, and they wanted to gauge if commissioners and university presidents and chancellors from the other Power 5 conferences -- the ACC, Big 12, Pac-12 and SEC -- will fall in line with them.

Sources told ESPN that a vast majority of Big Ten presidents have indicated that they would vote to postpone football season, hopefully to the spring. A Big Ten official confirmed to ESPN that no official vote took place during Saturday's meeting.

Anything over the face will restrict breathing. That thing wraps all the way around and higher up on the face. I was wearing one of those blue surgical masks, which allow for some airflow on the sides (and probably some transmittal of the virus, tbh).

They claim it lets more air through. Great, but doesn’t that make it easier for the virus to pass through too?
It all depends on the moisture content. The virus lives in droplets that you exhale out.

Is it possible to make a mask that gets near 100% of the airflow that you would have without any mask, while capturing some high percentage of moisture droplets? I have no idea, but taking a wild guess that it’s very difficult to impossible.

Yeah I’m a big proponent of masks in general but we’re living in La La Land if we think they’re gonna do much for us in such a high contact sport as football. You can get used to the breathing aspect, but when it comes full contact and game time these guys are gonna be handling mouthguards, wiping sweat off their faces... I don’t think a mask is going to be stopping much in those scenarios.
