I'm trying to show my roommate a hit from a few years ago where the Minnesota QB (I believe) gets drilled by a Penn St.(?) player, but can't seem to find it on youtube.

It's late and my brain is mush, if you can't tell. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

It's not what you described but I think you're looking for Michael Robinson (Penn State QB) hitting Brandon Owens (Minnesota DB). Owens was our best D-back and unfortunately the hit ended his career.

I might be wrong but I thought it was Penn State QB Michael Robinson laying the hit on a Gopher defender, don't remember which one though.

Not only was that a big hit on the field, but a big hit to the program at the U. He would have made a difference. He's still not recovered if I've read correctly. A bad deal. If I recall he was hit so violently the nerves were actually ripped away from the muscle tissue creating permanent nerve damage. We haven't had an update for a while. has anyone heard anything?

Somebody posted on here that they saw him on campus recently and he still is wearing a sling. Just what I read.

Does anyone of a link to the video of that dom jones hit on the tOSU wr. I cant find it anywhere. That was a pretty good one also.

It is too bad DJ got in the trouble he did. He would have been a great player for this team.

Same goes for Owens. Had he not hurt himself against PSU, we would have been a different team!

I heard it ended his football career. Given the quality of the U medical school and hospital, it has to be bad if it is still a problem for him.

Man, one of those hits that makes you wonder how that doesn't happen more in football. That was just nasty to watch him crumble like that. Anyone notice the Gophers were ranked 18 and Penn St wasn't ranked in that game?? I think we not only witnessed the hit, but the peak of the program under Mason (sarcasm oooozing out of me).

Penn State has the good taste not to post that hit. A man's life is very substantially destroyed in that clip.

Good for that...I am certain that affected Robinson as well! It is overall one of those things you wish did not happen for everyone involved!

Wow. Thank you everyone who replied! I was clearly confused as to: who, what, where, how, when, etc... but then again, what else is new?

Brandon Owens had a great football career going until that unfortunate hit. I don't even want to watch it. He is still visible with the team and around campus. Last I heard he graduated and was looking for a job in the Twin Cities.

God love him. Gave his body up to for his team every time he strapped it up. Michael Robinson played possum and surprised B. Owens by accellerating hard upfield and he beat Brandon to the impact. Robinson has tremendous core strength. He was/is the (49ers goaline back). He saw Brandon coming and set him up. Robinson would have been a great Linebacker. I also believe Robinson had about 20 lbs on Brandon. He did not expect a qb to turn into a fullback.
Everyone must respect the courage and sacrifice these young men make. I love Brandon Owens and all the others Golden Gophers before and after him. He along with the Barbers, Maroneys, Etc. should give the talk to the team the night before we take the field in Pasadena or the BCS champonship game. B. Owens was a great golden gopher.

I still think if Owens had simply tried to push him out of bounds instead of trying to deliver a "Sportscenter" hit, he'd still be playiing.

At any rate, it was unfortunate.

Brandon has probably had that same thought a few thousand times since the injury. Before that, he was really coming into his own as a great DB and it looked like he was going to play on Sundays. I hope he finds something equally rewarding in his future.
