I don't think I'd take Va Tech over Boise State. Isn't the game on the smurf turf? The Broncos are lethal on that surface.

I think Oregon State will at least cover against TCU. TCU might win, but I can't imagine they are gonna do so by 2 TDs.

And of course, I think the Gophers easily win by more than 3.

I'm more of a tease guy myself......last week, I teased Mizzou (-3), Purdue (+21) & over 29.5 in the LSU/UNC game (this is the one I'm the most worried about, but think a 17-14 should at least happen).

None of the straight up games jumped out at me.

I like:
Miami, OH + 35
Northwestern - 5.5
Love Purdue + 11
Tempted by Connecticut +3
K State - 1.5
OK St - 5
Fresno St - 3
UNLV + 20 (I'd take the money line on UNLV)

I don't think they're that tough at home. I just beat Boise 58-14 on the smurf turf in my Gophers dynasty on NCAA 11 LOL

Are we doing the GH point spread pickem game this year - where we get a starting sum to wager and see who can end up with the most fake cash? Who usually runs that - I forget.

Josh, I've been toying with whether or not to do it again. My problem was that by the end of the season I'd be doing all the work but only have 3 or 4 people participate.

GopherRock,
Please do it again. You didn't have many people towards the end last year because a lot of people lost their money week 1 when the Goph's didn't cover against the 'cuse. (I was one of them) Could happen the same way this year I guess, but I would doubt it.

If I do it again, the Gophers will NOT be on there for opening week. As a rule, there are no Thursday or Friday games offered on my board.

Since the next game is against a 1-AA, you'll all get to keep your money until September 18 when the Trojans come to town.

GopherRock, I'd advise you not to let people bet their entire bankroll early on. i.e. I ALWAYS go "all-in" the first couple weeks. If I win I'm off to a nice lead on the season, if I lose I don't have to participate the rest of the season.

NO ILLINOIS +4.5
UTAH -3
MINNESOTA U -3
PURDUE +11
KENTUCKY -3
SMU +14

NO ILLINOIS +4.5
OREGSON ST +13.5

Oklahoma St should be -15 not -5

Purdue +11 (ND)
Michigan -3 (UConn)
BYU -3 (UW)

Guys, let's move these picks to GopherRock's "Weekly Pick "em" thread and let this one die.

I'd take WMU +23.5 vs. Sparty. Sparty will win, but that's just too big of a number.

Also like UConn +3

Oregon State +13.5.

No O/U yet, at least not at the Vegas books, posted for the MN-MTSU game.

If it's a low-ish number, I'm all over the OVER in this game; go off the board for a two-game parlay, Gophers at -3 and the Over for the game.

I think the Gophers will score points, a lot of them, against MTSU. I also think the Gophers young defense will play well but the Raiders will score some points. I think their only chance is to sling the ball all over the place and they'll throw it up a lot. At some point, the secondary will make some mistakes. I also think the defense will come up with a score, run back an INT, against the inexperienced Kilgore.

Mark it down, there will be some points scored in this one. Not sure why the O/U hasnt' been put up yet.

:(If the Gophers can't cover the 3 point spread against MTS minus their starting QB, we're in for a long season.

When the starting QB was in the game, MTSU was favored to win by 4.

What do you think? Do YOU like the OVER on that number?

I was going to take it if it was anything under 52 or 53. I just think it's going to be a higher scoring game. I could be wrong. I was going to hedge my two-game parlay (Gophers and the OVER) by making a smaller bet with Gophers and the UNDER.

I'm bad with totals. My head says the under is the play here since it's the same anemic offense as last year returning + other team lost it's QB + early in the season defenses have the edge over offenses, since timing/rhythm is rarely 100% worked out yet and leads to less passing yards. My heart though says (and I bet the Gophers -2.5, small) we're due for a Glen Masonesque OOC steamroll where it's 49-7 or 56-10.

I say let it ride w/ your parlay though because it's hard to hedge a parlay since there's more than just the 2 possible outcomes and nothing sucks more than losing the same game twice.
