Who do you all think our best team was, 99’, 03’ or 19’? if they were to all play eachother….. i was only 9 in 99’ but i do remember being at my grandmas watching us beat Penn state, and losing to the Joey Harrington Ducks the first year they brought out the modern era Oregon uniforms. that will always be my dads favorite team. ‘They should have went undefeated’……… I have a special place in my heart for the 03’ team, got a Marion Barber jersey that year (Michigan loss still kills me). ……….And of course the 19’ team was my favorite. I flew from L.A. n attended the Penn State game. But the fact that we lost to Iowa n Wisconsin still stings, especially considering all we had to do was win 1/2 and we would have been in BIG Championship and Rose Bowl. What say you Gopher Holers?

I watched them all and would take the 2019 team. 1999 offense was not great, 2003 defense was meh...2019 was more balanced IMO...and they won more games so there's that.
If you could have the 2003 QB and RBs and OL, and the 1999 defense plus Winfield, and the 2019 WR group that would be a great, great team.

I'd say the 2019 team. The quality on both sides of the ball put it at a level above. The 2003 team had that awesome rushing attack, but 2019 was no slouch either with Smith, Brooks and Ibrahim.

The 2003 offensive line was great, but the 2019 line had a good deal of size and held its own against the likes of Auburn and Penn State. Plus the 2019 offense had the clear advantage in the receiving corp.

Defensively, 1999 was spectacular. But again, 2019 had the likes of Antoine Winfield, Carter Coughlin, Chris Williamson, Benjamin St-Juste, Boye Mafe, Esezi Otomewo and Terrell Smith. That's a solid group.

The 2019 team was also solid on special teams and could get creative offensively with the Seth Green wildcat option.

Again, both 2003 and 1999 may have the edge in a couple units, but I think overall, 2019 is the more complete team across the depth chart.

For me it's 19 and not even that close. 1999 isn't close at all and best win in 2003 is the bowl game. 2019 had 2 wins better than 2003. Also 10-3 vs 11-2.

Best Wins
1999: #2 Penn State
2003: No ranked wins. Beat an 8-5 Oregon and 7-6 Wisconsin team
2019: #4 Penn State, #12 Auburn

Losses
1999: #20 Wisconsin by 3; #22 Ohio State by 3; #18 Purdue by 5; Oregon by 4
2003: #20 Michigan by 3; #15 Michigan State by 6; #20 Iowa by 18
2019: at #20 Iowa by 4; #12 Wisconsin by 21

If 1999 had won the bowl game, it would have been really tight. That was a dang good team where all 4 of their losses were against t25 teams in the final minute.

Maybe splitting hairs here a little big but Ohio State finished the year in 1999 unranked at 6-6 and Purdue managed to finish at No. 25, but were 7-5 overall. No shade to the 1999 team, though. Tiller had the Boilermakers in a good spot and the Buckeyes are the Buckeyes.

1999 is definitely 3rd. It's close between 2019 and 2003. 2019 was more balanced, but I think 2003 might just run over them like they did Michigan.

Pickin nits, but the 2019 PSU team finished the year #9 vs #11 in 1999. Speaking of, BS that PSU finished ahead of us with the same record?

It was for a half lol. And the week leading up to it
I was a student and a recently minted Gopher fan --- a ranked Gopher team was whipping a ranked Michigan in a packed Dome. Up until the 4th Quarter it was about as good as it gets!
If Abdul would have just went down.....

Goddamn ref, blow the whistle already, he's in the grasp.....

I may have nightmares.
