Berkeley or Bust: who’s going?

I really wanted to go but it's too early in the kid's school year to pull this road trip off :(

I’ll be there. Staying with a college roommate who lives at the edge of campus. Wondering whether there is a bar that Gopher fans are gathering at before the game? Or will the Gophers have a hospitality tent, or some other facility for visiting Gopher fans?

Driving up from San Diego then renting bikes to go over The Bridge and through Sausalito to Tiburon. After the game, hiking and camping at Big Sur. We love San Francisco and have heard much about the expansion of the homeless population. Guess we will see for ourselves if the Union Square/Market Street area has really been trashed.

My son & I are taking the Creative Charters trip. Sitting in Section U. Will wear maroon to bust the “Gold-Out@.

LMAO that Cal is doing a gold out for this game. I guess they want to make us feel at home?

We are 2 of the 5 FBS programs with Golden in their mascot. Tulsa Golden Hurricane, Southern Miss Golden Eagles, and the Kent State Golden Flashes are the others.

Sasusalito and Tiburon are amazing! Jealous

Flying in Friday on Suncountry. Staying near the airport. Plan to do a bit in SF, then head over to Berkely early afternoon.

Driving up from Ventura County with the adult kids. Staying a 1/2 from campus. Hope to run into Maroon Clad Gopher fans!

Cal alum and fan here. A few tips for those who’ve never been before:

There isn’t traditional tailgating. If your alumni association is doing something that will likely be as good as it gets. Otherwise try a local sports bar.
Avoid Greek Row.
Parking is a bitch, give yourself extra time and expect a walk to the stadium.
Make a stop at Top Dog.
Visitors section seating is usually in the SE corner. If you venture just a little north and stay higher up you’ll get the magnificent view of The City and bridges.

Anything else? Ask away.

Thanks!

Is it true that the Hayward Fault runs directly beneath the stadium? And if so, how many teams have been swallowed by the earth, never to be seen again? And further, how do you ensure that only visiting teams get annihilated?

Yes, that is true.

Sorry, that info is more carefully guarded than the weekly game plan.

Ever notice how you never see Stanfurd red in the stadium? Just sayin’…

Staying in San Francisco Friday night. Got a hotel in Berkeley about a mile from the stadium for Saturday. Plan on walking to the game from there. There are a lot of tiki bars in bay area, so I'm going to have fun for sure before coming back on Monday.

I know that they have done some work on the stadium. Does the visiting team still have to climb that spooky stairway to get to the field on the SW side of the stadium? It was external and about a 4 story climb, gave me the creeps to look down there. Go Gophers!
